John Hough's THE INCUBUS (1981) from Scorpion Releasing 1/22
Out of print for several years, John Hough's THE INCUBUS (1981) is back on DVD courtesy of Scorpion Releasing! Small town doctor John Cassavetes turns detective when faced with a rash of brutal violation murders. At first suspecting his daughter's boyfriend, the evidence begins to intimate something more sinister is transpiring. Separated from the rest of the '80s slasher pack by its offbeat premise and a pretty unique reveal, THE INCUBUS probably plays better now than it did thirty years ago considering all the flotsam that's screened since.

It's a pity they're using the US art for this title. The "foreign" art is spectacular.

Missed this on DVD the first time around. Will not let it slip by this time. |

It is, Scorpion confirmed it. Apparently the original negatives have been lost/misplaced...or possibly even just thrown away thanks to the idiots at Liberation Entertainment who last had them in their possession from the licensor/owner of the film.

Iron Maiden fans, look for the cinema scene and you will see a young Bruce Dickinson performing with Samson in the music video for Vice Versa.

Can't wait! I've never seen this one.
I locked it in at the $10.47 price. I've got release date delivery, but for some reason this one isn't scheduled to arrive until the following Thursday. No biggie, though. |

If you don't see the "Want to receive this the day it comes out?" listed on the item page, it's usually one of such titles.

Long time favorite. I own the Elite disc and I always thought the print didn't look that bad, so I doubt I will get the Scorpion release.
I wonder if the print they are using would benefit when done in HD for a Blu-ray. It certainly wouldn't look worse than it does now?

Since this is essentially the same as the Elite DVD I'm going to try to track down a used copy of it unless the Scorpion disc is really cheap. I didn't read anything in that review that suggested Scorpion's edition offers any improvement in the PQ dept., however slight, and there are no new extras aside from various trailers. I've gotta find ways to spend less this year.

The licensor of the film has lost the negatives (by loaning them out previously to Liberation Entertainment), and apparently a good film print couldn't even now be located. It'll be a miracle if this ever sees a better DVD or Blu-ray.

Kind of weird how that works. I just sold my OOP Anchor Bay Silent Night Deadly Night DVD (the first movie only) for over $25! Then I immediately placed an order for the recently released Silent Night Deadly Night 1 / 2 2-disc double feature DVD. So basically, I got a free copy of the second film and a nice little profit. |
