Full Moon DVDs at Dollar General
Anyone else seeing this trend? I have not only seen this at a local Dollar General store, but others have well. It seems they have turned into dumping grounds for Full Moon DVDs and I'm loving it! They have the typical Echo Bridge Full Moon sets, but they also have legit Full Moon releases. In the past, I've picked up the Puppet Master 1 and Subspecies blu-rays for $10 each. Today I noticed they have a lot of 3 movie boxsets like the Demonic Toys set, Trancers 1 - 3, Subspecies 1 - 3, a Vampire set (Vampire Journals, Decadent Evil 2 and Vampire Resurrection), a zombie set (Dead Want Women, Dead Hate the Living and another one I can't remember), Puppet Master collections (one has 1 - 3, other has 5 - 7 (?)), etc... all for $10!!! Not too shabby I do say. It's nice to see Full Moon titles back in stores and at a cheap price. My 13 year old loves Full Moon and he's having a field day with these sets.

Was there anything as cool as Full Moon flicks when you were 13?
Maybe Troma, and definitely Joe Bob Briggs Drive-In Theater for me, but not much else! If you can find a copy of Dolls he'll love that too! |

My wife has a copy of Dolls, so he's seen it. He's definitely into the "puppet"/small monster genre, so Full Moon fits the bill quite nicely. Oddly enough, he won't go into the Subspecies series despite numerous attempts from me. lol

Any Puppet Master trunks at Dollar General yet? LOL, there seems to always be a ready supply of the "limited" Full Moon stuff years later ya know...

I noticed this myself, but the Blu Rays get terrible reviews and Kmart and Walmart have some of the series on $5 DVD sets.

I thought the BDs of the two I got were fine. Could be better, but MUCH better than the original DVDs, so it's worth the upgrades in that aspect. I just got PM2 and 3 from FM themselves, can't wait to check those out as I heard they're much better in the A/V department.

Just a quick note, I was at another Dollar General today and seen that their FM BDs are now $6.95 rather than $10.

Speaking of those $5 sets, Echo Bridge compresses the hell out of those encodes. My son has a few of these sets and you can easily see the compression artifacts pop up during the movies. It's alright if you're just watching the movie once, but for repeated viewings, it'd bother the piss out of me.

I'm starting to see solo Full Moon DVDs popping up in Dollar General stores for $3.95 each. Seen "Head of Family", "Shadowzone" and "When Puppets Attack" earlier today. I'm sure there are more out and about. Also, in regards to the boxsets I originally posted about, any Full Moon boxset that features 3 dvds have been spotted at varoius Dollar General stores (I've compared the FM catalog to all the ones I've seen, and they've all shown up).

Just saw a bunch of the 3-DVD Full Moon boxsets at 7-11 of all places. $9.95 per set. I didn't grab any but I might next time I go in if they're still there.
