Just tried the region A Blu of Hatchet and it doesent work on the Panasonic BD80. Must have been the earlier Panny models you could do this on. I have seen the BD35 & 75 mentioned so any model after those will not perform these cheats. Oh well

Tested Panasonic remote control fix on a few Criterion titles (Videodrome, Brazil and If) on the BD 30 and they worked. Anthony Hopkins Magic from Dark Sky works with the same button sequence

Also by pressing function, top menu got Fox/MGM region A titles The Edge and Blood Simple to work.

Canadian locked disc 15 minutes from Alliance worked by pressing function, 0, top menu, 0, top menu.

Echo Bridge They/Cursed region A works by allowing the disc to auto stop on region A message screen ( takes about 8 seconds) then press 11 , enter.

Blindness from Echo Bridge works by pressing function , top menu - this takes you from a blank screen to the region A message screen. Allow to run until disc auto stops - takes about 15 seconds. Press 1, enter

Have you found any others that work with the functions you have listed above? I have never been able to get these to work on my Panny BD80. What I really need is to find a way of getting it to play Scream Factory BDs. Maybe if the BD80 dies I will replace it with a region free machine but at the moment I cant justify it.

Thank you so much for this post. Just week before this re-posted (in may) I had written off my caution to the wind buy of the UK Sex Pistols live blu. It totally worked! Last night I just finished watching my Second Sight copy of Return of the Living Dead and Arrow's Motel Hell.
From time to time I find that some of the SD bonus features won't play audio, but I just stick the disc into my JVC blu that has all region DVD playback.

Totally stoked!!!

I could never get this to work on my Panny BD80. What machine do you use?

I know that this is an old thread but I thought I would revive it as I have found a new way of making my standard region B Panasonic BD80 play region locked content. And it definatly works. I used the Millcreek region A locked BD of When a stranger Calls and Happy Birthday To Me. When the wrong region screen popped up stop the disks playback. Then press '1' and while the 1 is blinking in the corner press the 'ok' and the BD loads up. Use can use everything once the film starts to play including the pop hp menu so that you can switch movies (both are on one disk). This is the only title I have tried. Will at some point experiment with some others.

interesting, tried this with by Panyy BD75, it did not work on any of the discs I tried, I tried it with the stranger calls blu, interesting never even got to the wrong region screen, the disc just freezes the whole machine, had to turn of the power to get disc out!!!!! Wrong turn 5, could not stop the disc, the option is disabled, The burning & nightbreed, managed to stop the disc but blinking 1 did not work, but the interesting find, death spa, played that got the wrong region screen, pressed home to turn of disc and then pressed top menu, still got the wrong region screen, however if I loaded it again, pressed stop and then pressed top menu the disc played!!!!! All very strange!

The Stranger Calls BD did just blank out the screen. I got around this by pressing function which took me back to the Panasonic screen. I pressed top menu which took me to the wrong region screen then I pressed stop and on the Panasonic screen I did the '1' and 'ok' trick and the BD loaded. I tried it twice and it worked both times. Non of this makes sence as non of it is supposed to happen. Its just tricking the player and nothing more. I'm using a BD80.

I've already mentioned this on the forums a few times before, but not in this thread.

Most Arrow blu-rays released after (and including) Runaway Train and Spider Baby are unlockable on many blu-ray players. When the screen comes up that says "This disc is not playable in your region", just press STOP, then POP-UP MENU / TOP MENU. It'll take you right to the blu-ray's main menu.

I can confirm it works on my Pioneer player, and I understand it works on Panasonic players. However, it would not work on my Sony blu-ray player (I'd assume that includes PS3 as well).

The top menu trick wouldn't work on my Stranger Calls BD. That was the first one I tried. Then I saw on another forum about the pressing 1 then ok trick and it worked. I have just done it again as I haven't yet watched Happy Birthday To Me and it loaded no problem. It does seem to be certain BDs from certain companies. It seems locked Criterion and Millcreek BDs work whereas Shout!! don't. Unless anybody knows any different. I haven't tried any as I don't want to buy a BD I can't play.
