Hey, they're in love and can't stand to be apart, I get it. Still doesn't mean you have to give her the lead, she could be your assistant director or something. Bit parts worked best IMO, go back to those.

Would John Carpenter be so revered if he stuck the same girl in every film he ever made? Has anyone else got away with this team of director/actor-muse and made a good movie or good living from movies? Different flavors Rob, try em! Right now you're almost in Ed Wood - Bela Legosi territory.

While he has yet to make me fall in love with a movie of his, I actually think Rob Zombie has an artistic voice - quite unlike Uwe Boll (who mysteriously is still making movies). My problem with his remake of Halloween , for instance, is that his voice is completely at odds with Carpenter's vision, but I am prepared to give him another shot with Lords of Salem (more than I am prepared to ever give Uwe Boll).

Did you ever see Seed? Try that before writing Uwe off, but be warned the first few minutes are heinous and hard to sit through, but it's a damn fine horror flick after that unpleasantness is over.

I've only sat through two of his movies, Alone in the Dark and BloodRayne, and both are unmitigated disasters - unenjoyble and crude.

When a fairly recent movie has a rating of 2.9 on IMDB, well, let's just say that I am not too inclined to see it. I also feel that I've given Uwe Boll enough minutes of my life. But your praise may just convince to at least watch the trailer...

You could watch House of the Dead to see how bad it ever got. That one is so bad it's good IMO, you should at least laugh plenty. Everyone I've shown it to has. Seed is the opposite end, I was kinda sad after seeing it and hoping for more House of the Dead type disasters. Avoid the "director's funny cut" of House, because while trying to make it funnier, it makes it not funny at all. The original is funny just cuz of how bad it is, pointing that out in the "funny cut" feels cheap, forced and wack. Plus the Uwe haters live at imdb, can't trust those scores as they all are the same and posted by fuckers who probably don't even bother to watch the films, just base on the last one they saw and hated.

Not exactly true. It was just that Carpenter had the fortune of dating Barbeau.

Chabrol, Polanski, and Argento, BTW, are good directors who had the pattern of casting their significant others. And, I suspect that Zombie imagines himself to be, at least, in the category of Argento.

Oh yeah, and In The Name of the King doesn't suck either (at least the DC Blu-ray doesn't), in fact if Uwe's name wasn't on it it would get a lot more respect for being a competent film and would probably be compared to Gladiator and Lord of the Rings. Somehow Uwe has turned into a pretty good director, but many cannot let the first few films go. His flicks have all been at least enjoyable to me, even Bloodrayne 3 (haven't tried Name of the King 2 yet, fearing Dolph starring).

JC had AB for like a 2-3 film run, so Rob has already nearly doubled that and a half (don't forget his Grindhouse trailer also starred Sherri). Plus those other guys all had different girls at different times, Rob is one bitch all the time. While that's commendable and congrats to them for obviously being in love, it's very much like porn. You don't want to keep seeing the same girl all the time, you want variety. Kudos for being faithful, but in your field it's not necessarily always a good thing.
EDIT: looked it up, 4 films if you count her voice cameo in The Thing (forgot about Someone's Watching Me). But say Zombie was hired to remake The Thing: We'd probably either have Sherri McReady, or a 2 second voice cameo would turn into 30 minutes plus of video or flashback cameo.

i dunno, can you really tell much at all from a 30 second clip?

i've never understood why studios release film clips as part of the promotion of a film. like watching the opening of The Dark Knight Rises before whatever movie it was last summer. Why would I want to see that? I want to see the movie, not a segment of the movie. It holds no interest to me.

I like Zombie as a musician, but as a film maker, he's just okay so far... House of 1000 corpses, Devils Rejects and the second half of Halloween were okay. Halloween II and the first half of the Halloween remake sucked though... I'll go see this new one on a matinee.

Actually, Boll has become quite the savant of a director. Rampage is wonderful (still don't like Seed, sorry), but then you go into the gut wrenching Attack on Darfur and Stoic, and then throw in titles like Tunnel Rats and Max Schmeling. That just makes me smile watching something like Postal or Blubberella. The hate towards Boll is really unfounded, he is quite competant, and when he's good he's brilliant and versatile

Zombie, on the other hand, is one-note. He hasn't shown me anything that doesn't fit the whole "A Rob Zombie Film" thing.

I liked House of a 1000 Corpses and loved The Devil's Rejects. Just keep him away from established properties and on his own work than it should be good.
