Thanks springjack!

Geez, this is the 2nd recent Code Red DVD that's Interlaced again!

When they first started out they released a few Interlaced DVD's, but then got with the program and all future releases were "Progressive"-encoded.

It's like they are going back in time now...

Look a little bit better but not by much.

When upscaled, I found the color on the faces to be like wax.
When upscaled, the picture also seems quite digital.
As a user said before, maybe it?s the mastering method Code Red uses.

The missing blue hue does indeed hurt the picture.
Why did you take out the blue hue in the picture????
GOD? some people really make bad decisions when trying to do the right ones.

I know VHS has a special place in the hearts of many user in this forum.
But I never saw a mastering from an HD source to look like a VHS.

Sorry to say but this only scores points for the extras and for being anamorphic.
I?ll keep my Anchor Bay...

I do not know why it looks like this, as according to Gary, this was the exact same HD master that is being used on cable channels. I did not have "hands on" approach on this project at all, so did not see the master after the fact, and did not have the Anchor Bay disc to compare it with. I will contact Gary Sales right now to find out the issues, as I instructed Duart to make sure this was to be progressively scanned, and Sales had to have told them numerous times when he over saw the project. Again, my usual authoring house did not do this title.
Thanks for the clarification Bill.

That's indeed unfortunate. I'm still going to buy the DVD for the extras, but it looks like I'm going to be disappointed about an anticipated DVD transfer upgrade.

Then I can assume Code Red released a DVD without even checking it?

Nope, we check all our discs, but this one was so under the gun to avoid missing deadline, I was not able to locate the Anchor Bay disc for comparision between the two like you have, to avoid missing the deadline.

Well, you gave it a try. Have you consider doing a replacement program?

Man, I was so looking forward to this. Interlaced? First the re-issue of House on Sorority Row, now this?

Bill, is there any chance this disc will be recalled and the transfer fixed?

Thanks for the answer Bill but I think that in this case the end result is far more important that it?s deadline.

I know that sometimes a company doesn?t have much power to change dates or to correct something but this may hurt Code Red because in the end we?re the one that buy the end product. And as you can see, the reaction to this new print was not good.

Don?t get me wrong because this is only an opinion.

Please contact the person responsable for the remastering/tweak and demand some answers.

P.S. - If you want to get the Anchor Bay disk you can get the Anchor Bay UK version here, used but very cheap:

Fuck, then can someone just burn me a copy of the old AB disc? (I sold mine off a few months ago). I just want it for the transfer. Unless Code Red does a disc replacement program, I wanna have the AB transfer.

Then again, Springjack said (and I quote): "Keep in mind that these screens were made with my LG dvd drive, on a LG HD 1080p monitor, with Power Dvd 10 in normal mode..."

So it's possible the transfer may not be as bad as we think. I'm sure once a review with regular size screenshots (hopefully Horrordvds), maybe then our judgement will change. Again, Code Red, you did your best and that's OK with me. Thanks again for releasing this!

Like I said, I printed the screens on the normal size of my monitor.
I didn?t blow them up.

Sure, and like I said before, if I posted smaller pictures que quality would be better, because they are smaller.

If you watch this on your tv, you?re gonna watch it on a bigger screen than the dimensions of the pictures I posted.
