I'll be more excited once I see a trailer for this. Decent poster though. Looking forward to seeing what his mask looks like.

"Buzz. Kill."

didn't know anything about this. but its a direct sequel to the original? thats good, i suppose. I was wondering when/if any original series' were going to continue on after being remade. although i suppose TCM: The Next Generation was technically a sequel to the original too, so i guess it doesn't mean anything in terms of quality.

i don't like the trend (?) of replacing the series number with the subtitle "3D". It worked for Jaws, Amityville, and Friday the 13th because those were actually the third films in the series. But this isn't the 3rd sequel. And Saw 3D wasn't the third sequel either. Including "3D" in the title of a film just because that happens to be a viewing option (not even necessarily the format in which it was filmed) seems stupid. It reminds of Police Squad: In Color!

I'm puzzled as to how Millennium got the rights from New Line/Platinum Dunes relatively quickly. But considering it's a sequel to the original film, it should be interesting to see how it goes. And man, does this film have a ton of writers involved...

From my understanding, when a company deals with the TCM film rights, they do it based on a per film basis.

Well, Jaws 3, Amityville 3 and Friday the 13th Part 3 weren't the THIRD sequels either. THIRD film, SECOND sequel.

Amityville 2 was a prequel as well, so I mean if it works for Amityville 3-D, on the basis of a technicality it should work for TCM 3-D.

no, i can't abide this. naming this film "Chainsaw 3D" is just asking for trouble. how are people supposed to know that it's a sequel to the original film, when it comes chronologically after the sequel (also a prequel) to the remake of the original, and is titled in such a way as to make one naturally assume that it is the third part in the remake series? its a recipe for disaster.

I agree. I think any way you look at it this ends up being confusing for the public. I remember when the news for this first arose every one was confused as to whether this was a sequel to the remake or the original. Even those who brought us this news couldn't give anyone a clear answer for at least a month.

I think most people will either think it's a sequel to the remake or a remake itself. No one is going to see a poster for this and go "oh yea, this must be a sequel to the original film".

Yeah, I would never guess that this was a sequel to the original movie, but the 3rd movie in the remake cycle.

So, what the fuck is this exactly????

A direct (as far as I understand) sequel to the original Tobey Hoper film.

I think they got the rights to use Texas Chainsaw Massacre so I'm pretty sure that's the title now.
