Pfft. This sounds indistinguishable from a dozen other recent movies. JC's return to the directing chair should be something more original than another ghost story.

Well, John Carpenter is not exactly known for originality in terms of material.

I'll wait and see regarding this news. It sounds an awful lot like Gothika.

Well, you don‘t get to much from the footage, but it certainly looks intense. Nice to hear Carpenter saying, “cut", at the end of the footage. Good to have him back.

Here’s a brief interview, so brief I don’t think it really warrants that distinction, but anyway it seems that Carpenter had a “fabulous” time and might be back in the swing of things. I really hope so. I'd sure like to have more than one Carpenter flick a decade.

Edit: actually here is a whole interview from a few days back.

I'm refusing to read anything about this. It's Carpenter and that's all I need to know. I loved seeing Ghosts of Mars in the theater (prior to that I think Memoirs of an Invisible Man was the only film of his I'd seen theatrically, heh) and there is no way I'm not seeing this day one. Can't wait!

Carpenter looks like the ancient Chinese dude from Big Trouble in Little China. He needs to stop smoking and then get some damn sunlight. But yeah, I'm looking forward to his return and wish him the best with it. Unlike Rhett I hate most of his recent work.

I think Carpenter's at his best with little money to work with; it forces him to be more creative.
I think Carpenter was at his best in 1982, and has been slowly sliding downhill since then.

i might go see it just so i can have seen something by him on the big screen. kind of like how im really happy i saw eyes wide shut in the theatre. even if its one of his lesser films, at least i can say that i didn't pass up the opportunity to see a kubrick film during its theatrical exhibition. same with land of the dead and george romero.

I'm interested and will go see it. Many directors have periods where they just go into a creative slump. Glad to see that Carpenter's addressed it and hopefully this will be a return to form.

Dave is just bitter that none of his recent work was brought over to DVHS.
