I will say these are all gory movies- not the 11 goriest of all time but probably the most well made and/or liked of the ultra-gory films made

At least half of these nominated films aren't my cup of tea, but as always it was fun to vote.
So what will be the next 11 round poll? |

Only two I haven't seen are "Darkness" and "Wizard of Gore". I think it's a fun list that would make for a killer movie marathon.

Gory yes, but I have to disagree that "Darkness: The Vampire Version" should be on this list, especially when the F/X was so amateur looking.

I would've put Darkness in there second. It wasn't a "best" effects poll. Besides, I thought the effects were great for a really low-budget flick.
Now, as for the story.... best not to mention it. It only exists for the gore. As for the list, I think five belong there, three don't, and I haven't seen three so I can't say one way or the other on them. Either way, it was fun billy! Last edited by onebyone; 06-07-2007 at 11:47 PM. |

Dead/Alive (1992)
Riki-Oh: The Story Of Ricky (1991) City Of The Living Dead (1980) Darkness: The Vampire Version (1993) Ichi The Killer (2001) The only ones who should really be there. There are lots more gory films than the others who somehow made it.

This looks like basically like a Top 10 list of Gore Films Maxim would produce, of which the majority of people here would then proceed to rip them to shreds for being too mainstream and not watching enough gore films.

I even think City of the Living Dead could be left out. But Wizard of Gore really embellished itself with gore. Montag literally made a spectacle out of it, picking apart bodies and for example pulling out an eye and twisting then turning it directly for the camera. I can't think of a film that's rubbed the audience's nose more thoroughly in guts than Wizard of Gore.

I go by memorable scenes a lot of the time, and CITY takes the bloody cake in that area.

It wouldn't be a worthwhile list without one Herschel Gordon Lewis film, and WIZARD is probably the best candidate.
