Thanks for letting us know Bruce. Pre-order done as usual, I wasn't sure about the BR as all the other are on DVD and it won't fit with them... but the price are the same so why not, in the worst case scenario I'll by a cheap DVD copy on marketplace later if the "doesn't fit" factor annoy me too much.

Awesome. I love me some Roman Porono.

But I actually suspect now that there may not be a Dawn of the Dead release from Synapse because they re-released Document. It seemed like a natural pairing and Synapse doesn't usually do a lot of tie in re-releases (unlike say Blue Underground). In fact they'll often delay things to finish out a pairing (like Street Trash) and be upfront about it. So I almost feel that when Don May knew he wasn't getting Dawn he just released Document without it. But then again it makes a lot of business sense to make as much money from Document as possible and then release it with Dawn. Or release Dawn stand alone and then a few years later pair it with Document to tie up a few loose ends of cash. It seems though Demons 1 and 2 were the titles he was most excited about. I'm not expecting anything "bigger" than those any time soon from Synapse anymore.

I'm shocked the Document of the Dead blu-ray hasn't sold out yet.

For a while I've thought of Synapse as the most customer friendly of all independent DVD labels, but something happened tonight that sealed it. I had ordered Six Days in Roswell from Amazon during Black Friday last November. I finally opened it today to find the disc bouncing around in the box, this caused a small scratch on the disc. The movie played fine, but when I hit special features on the main menu, the movie just started up again. I'm friends with Don May on Facebook and asked him if this was a known glitch of the disc (which was one of the first Synapse released). He responded that he had never heard of it before, but if Amazon wouldn't accept the return (as it had been a few months) that he could set me up with a new copy of the disc. I was able to process the return at Amazon, but the fact that he offered, let alone responded to a PM on Facebook from someone he doesn't know, shows how much Synapse cares about their customers.

Holy shit! One of the strangest and long sought after films from Canuxploitation's past is being erected from the grave via Synapse's erotic imprint Impulse Pictures!

The Blu-ray would be the way to go, as you'll likely get more enjoyment out of the 66-minute School for Visual Arts version of the original Document. The "Definitive" version isn't very good... All of the new footage and tie ins to the new films is rather mediocre...

![]() But seriously, I wouldn't pop your cherry on these Impulse titles. Look into something like THE OPENING OF MISTY BEETHOVEN, or AFTERNOONS WITH PAMELA MANN for your first hardcore purchase. That said, I understand your compulsion to keep going with the Impulse line. Due to the Nikkatsu series, Synapse has bought a enough good will with me I will be blind buying just about anything from the Impulse line for the foreseeable future. So much so I plan on getting both the DVD the BD of FAIRY IN A CAGE. |

My thoughts exactly. And I'd define any movie as hardcore when you actually see the penetration of an orifice.
![]() I wanted to touch on this before but forgot. As far as I'm aware those three titles remain a mystery. It was many years ago, so maybe they trickled out over the past few years but I've never heard what specifically he was talking about. All I remember was it was teased just before Vampire Circus/Twins of Evil/Hands of the Ripper were announced but then Don followed up that Hammer wasn't what he was teasing. Don has already dropped four worthy titles since his original remark about a "couple" of titles for us to speculate on. So it's hard to get a read on what exactly he means which I guess it the point.

The very first Impulse release (JUSTINE & JULIETTE) was hardcore, followed by another Swedish adult title THE SECOND COMING OF EVA. Then there's the pair of oddball hardcore docudramas REFINEMENTS IN LOVE and APHRODISIAC: THE SEXUAL SECRET OF MARIJUANA, and the recently released early '80s U.S. adult films SAME TIME EVERY YEAR and SERENA: AN ADULT FAIRY TALE.
The SCHOOLGIRL REPORT films, the Nikkatsu pinku eiga titles, and the three Brazilian pornochanchada releases (THE CHICK'S ABILITY, VIOLENCE AND SEX, and PORNO) are all softcore, along with the Christina Lindberg titles (MAID IN SWEDEN, WIDE OPEN, and ANITA, though hardcore versions of ANITA do exist around the world). A pretty interesting variety, when you look at the label as a whole.
