DOTD R1 Directors Cut censored?
Alright, I got the R1 Unrated Dawn of the Dead DVD today. I am watching it, and i was remembering the pics from the R3 DVD someone had posted on homepage of the dead. And i noticed this right away. The scene with the nude zombie is apparently censored in the R1 version. WTF is up with that? Take a look....

I think that's rather weak. Come on, it's UNrated, so who cares about the nudity? Zombie gore splattered on the windshield = ok. Two human bare breasts = not ok! Don't look! IT'S NOT OK!

Not a really big deal, but still leads me to question why. The movies not rated, so that's out the window. I think Dave hit it on the head about America being scared of nudity. So they add more blood? Makes sense, graphic violence doesn't lead to anything bad, but nudity sure does.
 I agree that it's not that big a deal and she really isn't "stacked" so it's not like we're missing too much. Then again, there's just something strangely hot about naked zombie chicks.  What bothers me more is that it is like this when there's no good reason. There better not be any more parts of the movie censored! |

I think it's ridiculous. The nudity has impact. I think she looks fine...for a zombie. Fuckin' censorship! I thought this is what I was getting. Why does R3 always get the titties??

C'mon, the fat guy zombie in the original one had bigger knockers than that....
I just picked up the DVD [I think they screwed up at Target and charged me the 15.99 they were charging for the rated version--later at another Target store I saw them charging $19.99 for unrated and 15.99 for the R version.] I had to promise my wife not to watch it until she gets home, but even the menu screens give me the creeps. I'm off to check out the bonus features...as long as I don't watch the actual movie I guess I'm okay! |

The point is, what's the need to censor this out? I don't get it. Instead of leaving well enough alone, it gets toyed with. Plus I think the shot from the R3 version simply looks better. That blood mess on the windsheild doesn't do it for me.
