Look at the stuff that's on Netflix now: Computer Chess, Lovelace, Frances, Maniac (the remake)... almost all the movies on my Wish List to see last year (just waiting on Leviathan, Gravity, maybe the second Hunger Games)

I watched The Lone Ranger last night, and found it to be a really enjoyable piece of escapism. I dunno why this got ragged on so bad. It takes its time getting to the good stuff, but once there, all the build up makes the conclusion that much more fun. So I have no problem with the length of it. About the only gripe I had was with the wrap-around scenes with old Tonto at the fair. I understand why they did it, so that the various reveals at the end work (and they do work, very well), but for the most part, whenever they cut back to the fair, it always feels unnecessary. And for a movie that's supposed to end on a high note, it's actually kind of depressing to see the character, aged and forgotten, and to know that the Ranger is probably long dead. In any case, I thought it was a lot of fun. And all the good stuff said about the conclusion set on the train is 100% true - that was wonderful.

Finished Orange is the New Black S2 last night, and I'm pretty disappointed in the overall watch. Whereas S1 felt fresh, clever, and scary, this season was over-sentimental, trying, and eye roll-inducing. The cheesy piano music that chimed in whenever there was a very special moment became a running joke at my place; the character Vi was a one-note villainess; and the "origins" were nowhere near as fun as last season. Disappointing, and I understand the need to get this out quickly--but what a miss.

I would like to comment if I could actually post in the forums. Nobody seems to be too interested in reviewing and/or approving my posts for some reason
