Talking I, Frankenstein (or, Underworld: Gargoylution)

Trailer

I, Frankenstein
Director: Stuart Beattie
Runtime: 93 minutes
Cast: Aaron Eckhart, Bill Nighy, Miranda Otto

Quote:
Frankenstein's creature finds himself caught in an all-out, centuries old war between two immortal clans.
AV Club gave it a C:

Quote:
Though I, Frankenstein isn’t technically a spin-off of the Underworld series, it recreates much of that franchise’s geeky, video-game-worthy camp, with dialogue that’s overloaded with exposition, invented or repurposed terminology (“descended,” “sacramentals,” “scapular”), plotting that suggests a middle schooler’s fan fiction. Adapted by director Stuart Beattie (who, once upon a time, wrote Collateral) from Kevin Grevioux’s graphic novel, the movie plunks Frankenstein’s monster (Aaron Eckhart, of all people) into the middle of a secret modern-day war between shape-shifting gargoyles and demons. Underworld’s fixation on clicking, gleaming, retractable weaponry is present and accounted for, as are series regulars Grevioux and Bill Nighy, the latter once again slithering his way through some of the silliest dialogue (“I am a demon prince”) ever committed to paper. Everything is chosen for maximum dorky/cool factor; characters have names like Naberius and Zuriel, demons explode into clouds of cinder and ash, and the monster—who prefers to be called “Adam”—rocks a trench coat and boot-cut jeans.

Well, OK. This looks like an amazingly cheesy late-night rental. Anybody see it yet?

Yeah, I think I'd rather go to the dentist than sit through that.

I'm in Vietnam atm and thought it'd be cool to see a movie here as they're only around $5AUD. Sadly I.Frankenstein was the only appealing title showing. I'd never see a movie like this in theaters back at home but for five bucks I thought "who cares?".
Well it sucks; and bot even in a so bad it's good or super cheesy sort of way. It's just plain terrible. I didn't mind the Underworld franchise and to me this film was nothing like that in terms of quality and story, it's far worse.
The other issue is is doesn't remotely feel like any type of Frankenstein film at all. It's more a generic angels and demons at war flick. Anyway, I'm sure most here know to stay clear. If your interested, download it don't waste you money and give them reason to make more of these *shivers*

I actually thought Underworld looked awful when it first came out - but after giving it a chance when it was out on video I ended up loving it (guilty pleasure?) - in fact I like the whole series. From what I am hearing from folks that saw I,Frankenstein it cannot hold a candle to Underworld - not fun even in a cheesy or eye candy fashion- just plain boring.

I'd been hearing bad things about an Aaron Eckhart Frankenstein movie since last summer, but I had a hard time believing they could screw up Frankenstein that badly with Eckhart.

The first trailer I saw proved to me without a doubt why I was so very mistaken.

Just finished it. Well, Zombie Dude might not like the comparisons to Underworld, but, this movie is a mix of Underworld and Blade in my opinion. Cheesy ? Yes. I still enjoyed it, went in with low expectations and it ended up being a not too bad way to kill an hour and a half. I've seen a lot worse than this in the last 12 months.

It saddens me to hear that. I can't think of anything worse I've seen in the last 12 months (new films that is).

I can guarantee that the Oscars will be worse. Don't forget to watch the legendary musical acts such as Pink. Bleh.

The Oscars are not a movie. I thought we were only talking movies here...

My apologies. I had just caught a commercial for the Oscars and threw up in my mouth.
