Is The Being worth checking out? Code Red has it on a double feature disc. I was also curious to know if the quality is any good because I know this film had another dvd release not too long ago.

It's an okay movie, about average early 80's sci-fi/horror cheese. Jackie Kong (Blood Diner) wrote and directed it. I own the older DVD from Shriek Show, so I don't know how the Code Red DVD compares...but I seem to recall that it does add an audio commentary.

The double feature is even still in stock at Amazon, and Bill wants under $7, so I kinda doubt it'll be a valuable DVD any time soon.

I might just pick up this set sometime soon then.

I was reading some reviews for the set and a lot of people said they enjoyed The Dark the most. I'll be curious to see it.

The Dark is definitely the best film in that set. Tobe Hooper started out directing it actually, but was then replaced.

Agreed - the Dark is pretty good. The Being was a bit of a let down for me, but I should revisit.

God, I've been watching a lot of Hooper's stuff lately and a lot of it is just terrible. A few that come to mind are The Mangler, Eaten Alive and Spontaneous Combustion (only made fun by Brad Dourif and the random fire explosions).

Still, he has his few gems. I'm definitely more intrigued about the Dark now.

Eaten Alive is great!

All I remember about Spontaneous Combustion is thinking "damn, I want that neon phone." I have it on a double feature disc with Society, but I always just keep it on the side with Society.

I found it boring. Definitely not as bad as some of his other films.

The girlfriend and I said the same thing when we watched SC. Truly an awesome phone.
Oh and Society is awesome
