Already being touted as one of the bloodiest films ever made, Emanuele De Santi's ADAM CHAPLIN: VIOLENT AVENGER (2011) gains its domestic debut courtesy of Autonomy Pictures. After his wife is torched by a local gangster, Adam Chaplin strikes a deal with a demon (who lives in an inverted cross-shaped wound on his back) for the powers of revenge -- powers that apparently consist solely of the ability to pummel people into hamburger in a hyperviolent freakout frenzy. Seriously, the trailer for this thing looks batshit nuts, and by all accounts the movie proper actually lives up to the splatterrific hype. If you're a fan of the works of Olaf Ittenbach, Brian Paulin, or any of that Sushi Typhoon stuff, I imagine this will be one to add to the collection. I might as well send out my movie night invites now.

Punks(ploitation) Not Dead! Relive those VHS glory days with Stanley Lewis' PUNK VACATION (1990), coming to blu from Vinegar Syndrome. When a group of only-in-the-movies punk rockers get ripped off of $0.40 by a soda machine during their titular R&R, they stab an old man to death, igniting some ol' fashioned backwoods bloodshed with the whole damn redneck town. From then on it's kidnapping, posse shootouts, and gratuitous booby-traps. Directed by someone who obviously never saw a punk outside of period cop shows, the date reads '90, but this has the late '80s all over it. Relevant supplements include interview featurettes with the producer and one of the stuntmen. But that's not all...

While it would've made a perfect double-bill with Greydon Clark's SKINHEADS (the 1989 one where a group of neo-Nazis listen to Elvis Hitler and terrorize a group of camping students until WWII vet Chuck Connors has to man up), Vinegar Syndrome give us a double-bill of a different sort by including a DVD of Frank Roach's NOMAD RIDERS (1984)! When his family is murdered by vicious bikers, Steve Thrust (no, seriously) takes the law into his own hands. Never seen it. Can't wait.

Talk about quick. Only a mere few weeks after premiering the pilot for the Zombieland series, based on the 2009 movie, on Amazon Instant, has been cancelled. I haven't had the chance to check it out, but, from the reviews, it doesn't seem worth while. Since the announcement, the series co-writer/executive producer Rhett Reese has taken to Twitter (sigh) to vent his feeling stating:
Our Zombieland series will not be moving forward on Amazon. Sad for everyone involved. I'll never understand the vehement hate the pilot received from die-hard Zombieland fans. You guys successfully hated it out of existence. Anyway, we did our best, and we're very proud of our team.

Wow, what a douche bag. It sucks the show didn't get a fair chance, but to shit all over "die hard Zombieland fans" for not liking it is incredibly egotistical and obnoxious.

For those of you, like me, who passed on the masterpiece collection because you wanted some, but not all of the movies, Universal is releasing this on June 4th:

On a side note, does anyone know if the original Psycho blu-ray is out of print? When I saw this box set was coming out, I put mine on eBay and it's already jumped to $15.50. Wasn't expecting that.

The brand new website for Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History Of Friday The 13th has been launched which shows the release date for the show as August 27, 2013 and it also states that the pre-sale for the documentary will begin on July 8, 2013! But that's not all, we have even more information for the fans as we can give you the exclusive expanded details about the documentary.

With a running time of approximately seven hours, Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th explores each film -- from the seminal 1980 slasher hit to the 2009 reboot, including the hit syndicated television series -- in chronological order, and promises to be the definitive retrospective on one of the most enduring horror franchises in motion picture history.

Writer/director Daniel Farrands says, "I'm very proud that my passion (and obsession) with all things Friday the 13th, which started when I was 12 years old, has finally come full circle. What started out as a pipe dream ten years ago when I first teamed up with Peter Bracke on his incredible book, has taken on a whole new life with our companion documentary. I hope fans will be as thrilled as we are with this epic look back on the Friday the 13th series."

With such a massive run time, Crystal Lake Memories will be released on Region Free Blu-Ray only as the DVD format is not only out of date and going extinct in the near future, but the ability to offer the entire documentary on fewer discs will make for a more enjoyable viewing experience.

Thommy Hutson shares his sentiments about his journey with the project.

“I am thrilled that the show has come together so beautifully,” says producer Thommy Hutson. “After a year of production, so many amazing, new interviews, and locating incredible materials, Crystal Lake Memories will absolutely be the embodiment of ‘definitive’ when it comes to telling the story of the Friday franchise, not to mention bringing Peter Bracke’s amazing book to life. We couldn’t be more excited to unleash this incredible history of Camp Crystal Lake, Jason, and all that has gone with them over the last 30 plus years.”

Make sure to visit www.crystallakememories.net to continue to track the progress of the documentary and look for the full website to launch in the very near future. In the mean time, make sure to follow the documentary over these social network sites and prepare to embrace your Bad Luck Day this August!
