Hey guys, I'd like to know your favourite scary horror scenes! and why? here are some of mine, more coming soon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luHmImbDSv4
Welcome to the board Horrorshow. To please folks like dave13 and others please do search for threads that have already been started so as not to duplicate. Although, if mildly different and not a pattern it doesn't really bother others as sometimes it's nice to have a fresh thread. To answer your question, I have always been a sucker for Amityville 1 and 2, and even Blair Witch. To name a few scenes, Amityville 2, with the crawlspace in the cellar always creeped me out. When Sonny crawls in there with all the crap dripping everywhere and then you see that hand reaching around the corner - yikes! Blair Witch - the tent scene with the rattling from the outside and they they all run out. Josh moaning from deep in the woods and walking through the house right up til the last scene in the basement. Seeing your YouTube clips reminded me of a scene in Pet Sematary where Zelda is standing up and comes running at one of the characters ( a hallucination/dream I think) which laughingly freaked me out the first time I saw it. There are tons of classic scary moments in horror movies, but it's nice to not get them confused with simple gory moments. When I was younger the chase scenes towards the end in Friday the 13th Parts 1 and 2 and Texas Chainsaw Massacre definitely freaked me out. The melty blobby zombie in the basement of Return of the Living Dead - gross!
You mean Tar Man! My favorites are the girl in the closet in "The Ring" and the demons in the car that almost ran over Tim Robbins in "Jacob's Ladder".
aw man, now i feel like a dick, picking on "the new guy". i was more thinking that the last time it happened the mods jumped all over it, concerned that it might be spam.
I'm not sure I've ever been frightened. I've found Paranormal Activity and the original TCM to be quite unsettling. I've never recovered from seeing Leatherface hit that dude with a hammer and put that girl on the hook.
Nah, don't feel bad. Duplicate threads and spam are indeed annoying, so your comment is just. Didn't mean to put you in a bad light - sorry. I was just trying to give the newbie a word of advice and feel welcome if he is actually trying to become........ one of us
Blair Witch= final scene TCM= when leatherface busts that dude with the hammer and slams the door shut. Halloween= when michael myers just sits straight up and turns his head towards Jamie Lee (just had a creepy vibe) The Strangers = when that chick knocks on the door and ask "is tamara home" (or whatever she said just had a forboding feel to it) Also the scene where the masked man pops up at the sliding glass door was scary Them = I was all tense when the mom and her daughter were stranded in the car at the beginnnig, that movie had others but that first one was pretty nicely done. those are some of the better ones that I thought were either very creepy/chilling and/or scary. (in no particular order)
The last scene that I remember really coming close to scaring me was the scene of Geri alone in the house in Squirm with the lights out. I watched that movie for the first time about 2 years ago and the whole scene was very tense. Especially when she's in the kitchen with the candle.
Barb's death scene from Black Christmas....excellent scene that is prefectly placed against the kids singing...yet it still sends chills down my spine.
the scene in the warehouse room towards the end of kairo gets me, or pretty much any of the scenes with the black stains on the walls. the grady sisters in the shining!
I think I said this in the other thread: But... The hallway scene in Exorcist III is still one of my favorites. While not necessarily "horror" - the scene of the women crawling through the tiny hole near the beginning of Descent stops my breathing The little girl in the window in Kill Baby Kill The bathroom scene in The Tenant really creeps me out too. Those are off the top of my head. I am sure I will want to add to this later.
Out of the TV in Ringu The naked witch in the Shining - I didn't bathe for weeks.... The final dream scene in Dressed to Kill The end of Blair Witch. Martyrs - in particular the final bit of torture The "What's in the box" scene in Seven (the first time, I didn't see it coming) The last scene in Inside
considering the original poster was just pimping his/her Youtube video and not actually looking to open a discussion, let's see if they ever return.
ice skating scene from Curtians dragged down the hall from Paranormal Activity home invasion from High Tension Roat jumping from the room to attack Suzy (ultimate jump scene) in Wait Until Dark banging on the doors from The Haunting (original)
I'd have to say that the floaty old lady behind door number one in HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL combined with Ben Gardner's head in JAWS pretty much destroyed my childhood.
The very first scene to ever scare me was in Psycho. When they finally reveal Norman's mother and then Norman comes running to the door in the wig and dress with the knife. My mom told me not to watch it because it would give me nightmares, but I was around 6 or 7 and I thought I was a big boy. She was right. Hell, to this day mummies and skeletons with a full head of hair still creep me out. The most recent scene was the end of Paranormal Activity(theatrical). I know that's cheesy, but supernatural stuff really gets to me.
