I really loved this series and the consistent straight-to-video sequels. I was disappointed they stopped with 6, which apparently had some legal controversy involving a Missing Persons poster featured in the movie. Crickets since 2014, I figured the series was dead. Turns out it's back! Filming is currently underway in Ohio on Wrong Turn, a reboot of the film franchise. Original writer Alan B. McElroy has returned, and it's being directed by Mike P. Nelson (The Domestics). I'd expect a fall 2020 release. Plot Synopsis: Friends hiking the Appalachian Trail are confronted by 'The Foundation', a community of people who have lived in the mountains for hundreds of years. Anyone here excited for the return of the Wrong Turn franchise?
I LOVE the first movie, the second was also fun, but the rest of them was disappointing, to me. They felt like those cheap "Asylum" productions. The crappy CGI gore was my biggest problem with the video sequels. And the make up also dropped in quality. The CGI in part 3 are so bad, that it looks like they didn't have time to finish the rendering of the FX. Part 5 had some good moments, including better gore, but I gave up when watching part 6, which I turned of after half the movie. I really hope this is a return to the quality of the first two. Is it still going to be direct to video?
I concur, the first one is great and I've always enjoyed the sequels. It was like the Friday the 13th series, you knew what you were going to get nothing fancy just some killings and gore. I'll check it out regardless of reviews, the new one that is.
Agree with Steel76, 1st is great, 2nd is strong, 3rd is fucking awful, 4th is just as bad, 5th got better, 6th was a absolute turd. I'm up for a reboot if they change it up, if it's a shot for shot or close. No thanks.
I'm in. I mostly agree with the consensus on the sequels. I remember catching the first in the theaters, lotta fun
I gave up on this franchise after 3 bored me to death from memory. I actually don't even remember much from the first two films now. Might check these out soon with the Halloween season around the corner.
Love this series I rank em 1 2 4 3 6 5 Very much looking forward to another wrong turn movie I wish fox would give us another hills have eyes flick.
I have the series on my list. I think all of them are on one of the premium channels. So I might watch them during the October month. I will say I'm not fond of the backwoods type horror characters. But Eliza Dushku is in the first one so I hope that will make it good. Also, I caught a few minutes of I think the 4th or 5th one which has another favorite actress. So I'm hoping that one is good too.
Anyone ever see the indie ALBINO FARM ? It was billed in some overseas markets as a WRONG TURN sequel (which it isn't).Some folks like it.
I have it on DVD and remember it being pretty unremarkable. I also own Asylum's rip-off Detour, which I find incredibly entertaining if you have a tolerance for low-budget.
2003: https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0319495/ Bear in mind, this is an Asylum movie made for a fraction of the budget of a Wrong Turn movie. Still, it's a fairly entertaining little slasher movie.
All the Wrong Turn sequels have grown on me after re-watches. I'm still not a huge fan of part 3 but the rest of them are at least fun, if not necessarily good. So I'm totally in for a reboot/remake of the series as long as we get mountain cannibals killing city folk in awful, bloody ways.
Think it's a terrible idea to remake an already very good movie, sure it's not the greatest horror flick ever but I watch it ever so often and its simplicity works expertly. The sequel is okay and the rest of them, while all watchable for a good laugh, are going too much for the goofy factor so the scary atmosphere flies out the cabin window. I'm sure a remake will be violent and serious, that seems to be the trend, it's still unnecessary though and seems to happen just because the original probably is considered technically 'dated' now. Which it's not, in my opinion, it merely looks like a real movie not a video game like the remake undoubtedly will.
Rated R for strong bloody violence, grisly images and pervasive language. Rating usually means they're gearing up for release. Being distributed by Saban Films, so expect a VOD release followed by a blu-ray from LionsGate a month later.
