You'd be surprised at how bad Marilyn Manson got chastised by Chris Hardwick for making the same reasonable suggestion.

He did? That's pretty funny. Like Chad has any better options.

I was pleasantly surprised by tonight's episode, I thought it was one of the better ones, but I'm curious to see other's opinions, I could see how some might find it really frustrating/annoying.

I was just glad to get a break from the main characters and the prison.

I hate The Governor as a character, and the fact I really don't care for the main cast I am finding myself disliking the series more each week. The writers can barely get their ducks in a row with the main storyline, this episode just makes me apathetic.

I really enjoyed it. Happy to take a break from the prison. When they teased The Governor last episode I was a little hesitant that they may fuck it up, but I'm liking the direction they are taking. It would have been an even nicer surprise had they not teased his appearance last week.

I liked the episode and the direction it took. A lot of people on um, other boards really railed at it, as they hate The Governor so much and only want him to be a moustache-twirling bad guy.

But to me it made sense to show the softer side of him. After all, if he's just a plain black and white Bad Guy, how would he have ever gotten so many followers at Woodbury, not to mention be married and have children in the pre-apocalypse world? Obviously, he does have a decent side, and it was the sudden rise to power that brought out the asshole in him. Sort of like Tina Turner's character in the third Mad Max movie, where she mentioned that pre-apocalypse she was a "nobody".

I'm sure The Governor will go bad again, perhaps as his standing as the leader of this new family rises more. I never read Rise of the Governor though, maybe this is sort of a play on that? Either way, it's intriguing, and fine weekly entertainment.

Agreed, Paff. It was fun to see if he'd turn on the family or if he'd act altruistic. Regardless, his actions yielded everything he wanted, right? A daughter-surrogate and sex (thankfully separate), so is this part of a larger manipulation or really character growth?

I now have interest in this season. Up until this episode I wasn’t particularly excited, but I am actually looking forward to next week and where the story will take us with the Governor.

    Wanna hear something embarrassing?

Even though I was tired I attempted to watch this weeks episode. On top of being little sleepy, I also missed about the first five minutes (that was key). Anyway, I thought the whole time during this episode that this was before he was the Governor at Woodbury. A back story if you will.

Consider yourself lucky. That montage was one of the most embarrassing pieces of television I have ever seen.

Now I feel real dumb. Totally forgot we saw the injury happen last year. I was thinking he always had the patch. Shows how much I'm paying attention to the series.

yeah, i think i would have been fine with the rest of the episode if i hadnt had to see him staggering around with a fake beard to that god-awful song. their music choices are consistently shameful.

imagine that montage using 'the gonk' instead.

Starting to get bored with this show. They need to move the storyline away from the prison and find somewhere else to base it, or have them just on the move and staying somewhere different every night for a while.

Don't feel bad, Baggio, I had the same experience, I thought it was some kind of prequel, until I realized, "But he's got the eyepatch."

Seeing the Governor stagger around with a beard at the beginning of the last episode made me think of Will Ferrell in Anchorman as he regretted drinking milk on such a hot day. I couldn't help but laugh and I doubt that was the reaction the writers of The Walking Dead were looking for in that scene.
