"While I revel in having a stack of titles to plug through, it is admittedly very daunting. I had to put myself on a schedule of grabbing at least one unseen VS title a week to keep up. If you've got a family, job, dog, and the irritating need to eat or sleep occasionally, a stack of unopened unwatched movies could sour the experience. "

Literally his job is to watch DVD/Blu movies and review them.

I doubt very many niche website blu-ray reviewers are making a stable living off reviewing Vinegar Syndrome blu-rays. They do it for the free shit. If anything, they might make some pocket change. Also, that article seems to suggest he paid for his subscription, but who knows.

Anyway, as an aside, those who are mentioning they'd rather check out some of these movies on streaming first, I thought I'd share that SHUDDER recently added Flesh For Frankenstein (plus the Severin released Blood For Dracula) along with all three films from their Homegrown Horrors boxset. Not Vinegar Syndrome, but other recent additions include all six films from Arrow's American Horror Project, along with a decent chunk of the films from Severin's All The Haunts Be Ours boxset, including the lengthy 3-hour documentary on folk horror and the long-awaited Eyes Of Fire restoration.

So for $5.99 a month you can preview at least four Vinegar Syndrome movies right there plus over a dozen other titles from similar boutique cult labels.

Unfortunately here in the UK the VS stuff and blood for Dracula are not available but the other stuff is.

I watched Eyes Of Fire last night, fuck me that was one weird movie, I'd heard people talk about it alot so was interested in seeing it, I'm glad I've seen it but have no desire to watch this ever again.

I feel this way about most movies I watch.

Understood. But having said that, it is a definite revisit film for me. Just so visually and thematically weird. It hits that surreal experience button for me, like films like Viy, that keeps me coming back. But definitely not a film for everyone.

I'd be hard pushed to say good, interesting, yes. Good not for me.

I have only watched Eyes of Fire twice, but really loved it when revisiting last year. A haunted story in the woods or creature lurking within means I am usually interested. Surreal on multiple levels. Have not seen Viy, but then again I can't decide if I want to purchase the folk horror collection that contains both films? At least both Eyes of Fire and Viy are available for sale individually. Sorry for the Severin tangent, but Eyes of Fire did come up in this Vinegar Syndrome thread.

I just updated my checklist and found that other than adult titles I'm only missing 5 limited editions. Overall I have 312 titles from their list.

I think I'm only missing a few also, but mostly early ones by choice.

My VS # is currently #256 "Death Machine": https://vschecklist.com/checklist/1624/

I think it's odder that Vinegar Syndrome never included the theatrical cut.

Watching disc 1 of the new troma blood hook bluray it's the 111 min version not the 92 min despite run time on back artwork!
Disc 2 is all the vinegar extras plus new troma features.

So the shorter version is not on the Troma release either?

I can't see myself rebuying it anyway, but I found the movie really really dragged. If I had to watch it again, I'd want to see the shorter version.

Watched Fatal Exam, while I cannot call it a Good Movie, it was oddly compelling with its stilted acting and after school special sound track

Watched Auntie Lee's Meat Pies, I'd not heard of it before, boy what a stinker, this was really low end stuff, found it difficult to get to the end.

Looks like Killing Spree is already available at The Archive in Connecticut. Any news on how this compares to the previous release?

I'm waiting for reviews on this one, as the pics on their website didn't look like much of an improvement. I'd imagine we'll see it on Mondo Digital, Rock Pop, etc in a week or so once everyone starts getting their subscriber packages.
