I jumped on The Severed Arm - the bleakness of it really grew om me on the second viewing, and I'm looking forward to seeing it get a proper release. I was back and forth on Dr. Jeckyll's Dungeon of Death and L.A. Wars - curious but not completely sold on either. Any rabid fans out there?
I grabbed... Flesh-Eating Mothers Limited Edition Slipcover1 $17.49 Olivia Limited Edition Slipcover $17.49 Deadline Limited Edition Slipcover $17.49 The Psychic Killer Limited Slipcover (w/ Blu-ray) $19.99 Night Train to Terror Limited Slipcover (slip only) $7.00 ****Noteworthy items getting very low are Deadline, The Psychic Killer, Bersker, and Pledge Night. I can't wait to get back to The Archive. I always look forward to these sales as an excuse to go visit those guys.
I placed two orders. That's enough for this sale. Blood Games (Blu-ray) Dr. Jekyll's Dungeon of Death (Blu-ray) Forgotten Gialli: Volume One (Blu-ray) Hellmaster (Blu-ray) L.A. Wars (Blu-ray) Night Train to Terror (Slipcover only) Olivia (Blu-ray) The Psychic Killer (Slipcover only) The Severed Arm (Blu-ray)
The problem when you place a huge order (this is my first time going over $100), is you get to a point where you ask "what's another $17.00 when I've already spent $250?" I'm really gonna try to restrain myself, but I can see going over $300 this time.
I placed another tiny order for Corruption, finally, mainly for the easter egg. It doesn't seem likely that Last House on Dead End Street is going to get a "restored" release anytime soon... I'm thinking of ordering Good Luck, Miss Wyckoff or The Candy Tangerine Man / Lady Cocoa before the sale ends... but can't seem to decide between the two. GLMW is certainly in the lower stock and likely to sell out faster.
^ Good list of recs from Vinegar Syndrome. If I were to recommend two lesser known ones that I personally loved, it would be the macabre regional oddity Grave Robbers and Canuxploitation gem Sudden Fury.
Final order, I really mean it this time The Killing Kind Darkroom Red Roses of Passion Pigs Secta Siniestra A Thousand and One Erotic Nights Top Ramen, here I come.
I placed one more small order, also my final one this time around: Pretty Peaches Trilogy Good Luck, Miss Wyckoff There's a few others I want to get at some point, but they are still over 500 in stock and should almost certainly be around for the next sale in the fall.
I watched the first Pretty Peaches movie a couple of weeks ago. Not a bad porno, but the first three sex scenes are all non-consensual (at least within the context of the film), and that's a real boner-killer for me. I caught Sex World over the weekend, and I liked that a lot more (shut up, not that way). I felt a little Milhouse-y on that, asking "When are they gonna get to Sex World?", as it opens with everyone on the bus for SW, then does a good 30 minutes of flashback sex scenes. It picks up once they arrive though. So concludes Paff's Porn Reviews. Watched The Corruption of Chris Miller last night, and that's a real gem. Great production values, and even though it's a bit slow for the first hour, it's one of those movies where you know all the little details are gonna be important later, and they are. Definitely worth a rewatch, glad I got it. If you still haven't maxed out your CCs yet, I highly recommend it.
So far I've purchased: Night Train to Terror (slip only) Psychic Killer (slip only) Play Dead Beyond the Door III The Candy Snatchers Hollywood Horror House Deadline ...when the website stock snafu was fixed I added: The Severed Arm Now before the sale ends I'm contemplating pulling the trigger on: Beyond Evil Amityville: The Cursed Collection Berserker The Corruption of Chris Miller Forgotten Gialli, Vol. I A Woman's Torment The Mountaintop Motel Massacre With the exception of "The Mountaintop Motel Massacre," the rest of the titles would be blind buys. I'm not a hardcore giallo fan, but enjoy them enough. I prefer those that are most like slashers as opposed to krimis and police procedurals...or those with supernatural/occult spins. Also, I'm more interested in the "R" cut of A Woman's Torment as opposed to the hardcore one...does it stand up as a horror flick?... Anyone have any last minute quick reviews before the sale ends? I'll have to whittle that list down by at least half before pulling the trigger...
I picked up the Angel and Amityville box sets, I'm a cheap date HAHA. I'm glad I waited up to do the sale because the Angel set sold out by morning IIRC. VS must clean up, they could sell people dog shit wrapped in a slipcover and people would buy it. They're slips are top notch and whats up with the mini slipcovers? I wasnt aware that the sale is based off the MSRP so when I saw the price of the items higher I was a little put off but then I was told what the deal was and I'm content on the prices I got and I'm happy with them because I know VS does fantastic work.
What scares me most is I see people who also did a major "haul" on this sale (here and other forums), and I compare my collection to their list and only find 3 or 4 in common. Meaning I can still do a hefty amount of damage to my CC at the next sale. Take Russ' list for example. 18 titles. Of those, only 5 coincide with mine (either I have them already, or bought them this weekend). That's 13 titles he got that I chose not to. But it's 13 more I might be interested in. I was kinda hoping this major purchase I made would back-fill my collection sufficiently, and from now on I'd just choose whichever new releases I want. That might not be the case.
I went into the sale only planning on getting a couple of titles but kept adding more and more. Since I began subscribing this past year I think I'm pretty well caught up at this point.

Cool - where did you find that? I ended up going back for all the mini slips so I'm pleased there's something substantial inside. I was worried it would be a generic sticker or something.
