Mondo-Digital reviews Zombie Island Massacre: http://mondo-digital.com/zombieisland.html
I watched this last night. There were no zombies, it was more of a slasher. Reminded me a bit of Island Fury. Manfredini once again borrows his score from The Children and Friday The 13th. The score during the kills should sound extremely familiar.
Maybe not my favorite thing VS has released, but still harmless fun. I'm glad to have finally seen it. I wish they were able to dig up any behind the scenes info, I bet there's a fascinating backstory here.
Would love to see these movies in HD. Unfortunately Santo's movies went from being the cheapest back catalog titles you could license to some of the most expensive. While at the same time selling poorly. Plus, as Jared from Mondo Macabro pointed out, most elements are in terrible shape.
One contender may be Santo in the Treasure of Dracula; a black and white film which has recently had an uncut European color version unearthed and theatrically re-released as "El vampiro y el sexo" in Mexico. It was found in 2011 and made the rounds in 2012. So it's made all the money it can from the front end of theatrical showings and has had almost a decade of offers from distributors; if reality hasn't sunk in on the rights owners what its true worth is by now I don't know when it will.
And that very well may be a title Mondo Macabro now has. I'm certain they would have taken an interest at the time and they've negotiated quite a few Mexican movies over the years. Although recently scanned it wouldn't surprise me if the rights owners went with a cheap quickie transfer that would be unsatisfactory to MM. It's coming on ten years since it circulated in Mexico so it's a bit frustrating to have this wonderful discover not widely available.
I have some Mexican lobby cards from the film under the original title as well as a scan of a lobby card under the new title. I've actually owned this film on DVD for some time but haven't gotten around to watching it. This one features a fair amount of nudity which I believe was rare for Santo films.
Those are sweet!
From my understanding the B&W version we traditionally had from Mexico does not contain the nudity. I may just dust off my Rise Above DVDs to see. And maybe that'll trigger its release.
Flesh Eating Mothers is one of the most authentic depictions of '80s suburbia ever committed to film.
Found the non slip release of Tammy and the TRex for $20 this is a blind buy hope its fun. Also got Body Parts bluray and Terminator Dark Fate at my record store today.
Tammy is one of those movies that has to be seen to be believed. I too bought it, but haven't watched the Blu yet. Dark Fate will be the only Terminator I won't buy. I didn't think they could get worse after Genisys. I was wrong.
I thought Rise of the Machines and Salvation were both less enjoyable than Dark Fate. I would have to watch Genisys again to refresh my memory since I've only seen it once. All the other Terminator films I've watched a minimum of two times.
I always thought Rise of the Machines was a lot of fun. Dark Fate is maibly bad because it's derivative, doing the exact same thing we've seen time and time again. For the 6th movie it really needed to do something new with the concept. My dads a big Terminator fan and I've never seen him look so bored in a movie before when I took him to see it.
From The Official Vinegar Syndrome Fan Group on Facebook:
The still is apparently from Trauma (1978) aka Violación fatal. Should be included in one of their boxsets.

This flick is a blast from the past. Plus it has Rita Jenrette in one of the hottest shower scenes in movies history
The Spanish gialli titles have got me stoked. Could it be Glass Ceiling and No One Heard the Scream?

Wow, the footage of the dilapidated Hollywood sign during the opening credits of Hollywood Horror House is kind of shocking. Fun movie.
So, apparently there's a Valentine's Day sale, but only of porn titles.
I'll be reaching out with my hand and making a firm grasp of a couple of movies. (Seriously, might get the Pretty Peaches trilogy and/or Her Name Was Lisa)
