well, I'm not so this is actually bit of a bummer

sure, I can watch the DVD of it but this kind of thing, ehrm, must not happen too many times for me to think of taking another yearly subscription next year...

Finally did my checklist. I've owned just about nearly all of their releases at one point, but have sold off a bunch over the years but this is currently what I've got/kept. And as a yearly subscriber it'll grow and grow. https://vinegarsyndrome.com/checklist/11570/

Coincidentally at that count my VS number is 90 and I'm a Runaway Nightmare, which just so happens to be the movie I helped them release since I discovered the film elements/rights owner and brought it to them. So kinda perfect and fitting!

I noticed it's back down to 21 copies of The Children. Not sure what that was all about. Pretty insane stock fluctuation there! In the name of USA's Saturday Nightmares, grab one now! Great release!

Watched Mausoleum last night, and I didn't quite get what all the hubbub was about. There's no real suspense or atmosphere, and the gore and monster effects are only adequate. Bobbie Bresee is a lovely woman and an okay lead for a low-budget horror movie, but most of the talent involved is weak. I did find the black maid's scene amusing: "I ain't been this nervous since I been black!" ...but the rest of the movie's a total dud, IMO. Fine presentation from VS, though.

I expected more? Maybe because it was One of the few from the VHS days that I had not seen. I have the slipcase version, but will probably sell it. Just not much for me.

I suspect the 280 was supposed to be 28. Looks like the stock surge hit Blood Harvest and Incubus as well, as both are listed again with the following message in the description:

"Due to Black Friday craziness, our inventory numbers were a little off on our limited slipcover releases. We did a final ‘final‘ count and this is the last batch of Incubus slipcovers. We apologize for any confusion…"

    Grab 'em while they last!

On Ebay some people are paying more for just the slip cover than it cost to buy the actual movie.

Yeah, that’s crazy. The slips are cool but it’s not like they make the movie better?

Or more than it cost to MAKE the actual movie.

Seriously though, is that what people are paying, or just what E-bay sellers are CHARGING? If no one actually buys them at the ridiculous inflated cost, then who cares?

Several copies of Blood Hook w/slipcover have sold this month for $70 or more and also several copies of Mausoleum have sold for more than $50. Hell, there's even a $39.99 listing for just the Mausoleum slip that sold recently. Others, such as Bloodsuckers from Outer Space, don't seem to sell as much with the slip but they still sell for more than the slip-less version would cost.
I'm just glad Vinegar Syndrome does editions without the slip because even if I was rich and money didn't matter I still wouldn't want to be one of the collectards encouraging this behavior.

I checked sold auctions and noticed that one slip sold for $32.00 and another sold for $40.00. These were slipcover only sales.

That's something I also always am curious about, how many of those crazy prices do sell?

Off-topic (a bit) : I've also dabbled in the world of retro videogames collecting and you see the same stuff happening there too. Therefore, I've set myself the limitation to never buy a videogame above the original asking price when it first appeared (which means between 55€ en 60€). About 2 months ago I went to a videogame fair and some guy was charging 65€ for 2 games that I actually really wanted, I made him an offer to take them but for 110€ combined but he wouldn't budge, then I added 5€ more and he still didn't go with me. A lot of people would then probably pay the price but I said "OK, no problem, thank you for your time" and left. Because if I had crossed my own boundary there, who knows for a next time.

And I can assure you that you can have a great collection of hard-to-find games that way too, only not every game you might want.

I collect sports cards and the same rule applies - I only over pay if I’ll never see it again, but otherwise I walk away.

Well how much is a DVD slip cover still worth these days? I can't imagine a Blu-ray slip cover retaining its value any more. Almost makes one want to sell now while there's a market at all. There's maybe a couple of VS slips I'd like to keep because they look cool and are for movies I especially like, but realistically I could sell them now for good money and probably pick them up again in ten years for a song if I wanted to bother about it.
