With the um, assistance, of some fellow HorrorDigital members, I added Wonder Women and Memories Within Miss Aggie to my order. Wonder Women is a slipcover, so I'm going down that rabbit hole with VS now. I was considering Sweet Sweetback, but I still find the Mario Van Peebles account of the making of the film, Badasssss!, to be far superior. That one I'd get on Blu in a heartbeat.

Can be an expensive rabbit hole. ;) Cheaper to go slipless. The occasional slip won't hurt though. Last slips I bought were the two Black Friday secret titles. (really wanted the films themselves slip or not) But over this year I've saved a bunch going the DD route. Most current is Cutting Class. Those slips were really not good imho. I'll pick up that title without the slip cheap in a short time.

Watched The Children last night - good fun there. Not as cheesy silly as I was expecting. Also, I didn't realize there was a lot of crossover from the production crew as Friday the 13th that was filmed at the same time. Lotsa Harry Manfredini jingles throughout the movie which I loved!

Great transfer overall too. It has the occasional inferior added footage to make it complete but not a big deal.

This was made right before F13. It's kind of hilarious that his famous F13 score is just the recycled score for The Children.

I am eager to see this new release! It's always looked like blurry crap on home video before. To finally see it looking like film with proper sound...yay! What is the double sided sleeve artwork for this? I'm thinking one side is the slip cover art and the other is the original theater poster? I hope I'm right!

His score for Hills Have Eyes Part 2 isn’t much different either.

I didn’t learn about Mausoleum or Children until after Mausoleum was sold out, but I got Children. I’m looking forward to the extras.

Yes - the original poster artwork is on the other side. I immediately flipped it over to that :D

Great, I hope the same is true for Mausoleum although their custom artwork looks great on that one.

It's too late for me I've already gone down the rabbit hole. I have all the slip-covers so far and I can't stop now, God help me

On the other hand I can't wait to see the new transfer on The Children, I've only seen the murky Troma dvd so this should eye opening.

Luckily I'm so much of a cheapskate that I'll only buy VS titles when there's a significant sale and most slipcovers are sold out by the time those movies hit the 50% off sales.

I usually only buy when there is a sale also, I just buy all the slip-cover editions I missed thoughout the year on the BF sale and the half-way to BF sale to catch up. ;)

I don't need the slipcovers but I have to say that they are quite sturdy and beautiful

and since i've been a halfway subscriber this year and a yearly subscriber for the next year, i automatically have them and I reckon they will look very nicely in my collection

slipcovers are of course also a way for VS to guarantee that a certain amount of their releases are sold at a not-sale price

I'm still waiting for a shipping confirmation here. I know they got a ton of orders, but I ordered within the first 2 hours (attempted to order within the first 5 minutes but the site was wonky) so I thought they would have at least shipped 11 days later.

Very nice, I got my order too except everything was packed a little too tightly in the box and my "The Children" slip-cover was damaged :( I sent then an e-mail so hopefully I get a replacement because that slip is sweet looking.

I don't think they were doing a FIFO on the orders; they even said nothing was shipping till Wednesday at the earliest. And considering that they sold all 3000 copies of Mausoleum with a limit of one per customer, at MINIMUM there were 3000 orders they had to fill. I got my shipping notice on Friday, and the website is still down while they concentrate on shipping. I can wait, but I'm antsy too. [Bill Clinton]I feel your pain[/Bill Clinton]. Hoping to get my stuff before the weekend, but it doesn't look good.

I think they said subscribers first, then flash pre-orders, then the rest. I'm a subscriber and I just got mine today (along with Massage Parlor Murders and Good Luck Miss Wycoff, not pictured, two of their earliest releases that I had never picked up).

It sat in transit for a while though. Expected delivery on the USPS site was yesterday and it missed it. I have another package en route from BlowItOutaHere (the last of my Black Friday haul) that is doing the same. It has been in transit between two facilities since Nov 29th. Expected delivery is listed as today, but it's definitely not going to make it. So the Post Office must be really swamped right now too.

^ Makes sense, and it's good business practice. Want your stuff faster? Subscribe. Sucks for us cheapskates who buy a measly ~$200 worth of stuff from VS per year (speaking for myself), but they really love those folks who drop $680 a year, every year. Keep them happy, keep them plunking down that $680.

If there were no benefits to subscriptions (I.E., you get your stuff just as fast if you don't), then people won't buy subscriptions. I can see where they're coming from, so I won't bitch. Do wanna watch some VS this weekend though!

(Murphy's Law: I WILL get my stuff before the weekend, but something else will come up and I won't get to watch anything)

In my opinion, the inconsistent "shipping hierarchy" seems more in line with VS being overwhelmed with orders and simply goofing on what goes out when. The main selling points of the subscription hold true the vast majority of the time: You get your stuff for less money, you get your stuff earlier than the rest, and you are automatically getting any and every LE title. On bluray.com, there were a handful of people starting to get anxious when their shipping notices hadn't arrived by Friday or Saturday ("It's been a week!"). Yeah, you ordered a week ago, but they have only been shipping...for three days.

As mentioned before, the 'mystery' BF titles are a good baseline: 3,000 for Mausoleum and around 2,700 for The Children. Right at the start, that's at least 5,700 orders to process. Add multiple orders (over different days), and you have a LOT of stock that needs to be pulled, bundled and packaged.

I got my copy of Mausoleum yesterday, and also received the copy of Deadly Daphne's Revenge that I bought from Ebay (reasonably priced), so it was a good Vinegar Syndrome day. I plan on watching the former as soon as I have some time.
