Got the Children ordered been a favorite of mine since it was on USA network back in late 80's/ 90's.
Shit. I thought that MAUSOLEUM was another name for ONE DARK NIGHT and ignored the announcement. Where I got that idea, I don't know. Sinilar VHS art maybe. I went ahead and "pre"ordered from the next batch, which they are saying now may have a slip cover.
Found that Body Melt code finally. Was fairly obvious, but I missed it for a bit. Picked up Mausoleum, The Children, The Psychic Killer, and the goofy Deathrow Gameshow. The mystery titles I grabbed the first night late and order was smooth due to how late it was. ~Rocker10
I hope I never get a VS slip cover. I'm already into this hobby (and this company) way too deep, last thing I need is another thing to want to add to my collection.
I dove in and ordered the 2019 horror/exploitation package last night. Mausoleum was a first-day order.
With the um, assistance, of some fellow HorrorDigital members, I added Wonder Women and Memories Within Miss Aggie to my order. Wonder Women is a slipcover, so I'm going down that rabbit hole with VS now. I was considering Sweet Sweetback, but I still find the Mario Van Peebles account of the making of the film, Badasssss!, to be far superior. That one I'd get on Blu in a heartbeat.
Can be an expensive rabbit hole. Cheaper to go slipless. The occasional slip won't hurt though. Last slips I bought were the two Black Friday secret titles. (really wanted the films themselves slip or not) But over this year I've saved a bunch going the DD route. Most current is Cutting Class. Those slips were really not good imho. I'll pick up that title without the slip cheap in a short time.
Watched The Children last night - good fun there. Not as cheesy silly as I was expecting. Also, I didn't realize there was a lot of crossover from the production crew as Friday the 13th that was filmed at the same time. Lotsa Harry Manfredini jingles throughout the movie which I loved! Great transfer overall too. It has the occasional inferior added footage to make it complete but not a big deal.
This was made right before F13. It's kind of hilarious that his famous F13 score is just the recycled score for The Children.
I am eager to see this new release! It's always looked like blurry crap on home video before. To finally see it looking like film with proper sound...yay! What is the double sided sleeve artwork for this? I'm thinking one side is the slip cover art and the other is the original theater poster? I hope I'm right!
His score for Hills Have Eyes Part 2 isn’t much different either. I didn’t learn about Mausoleum or Children until after Mausoleum was sold out, but I got Children. I’m looking forward to the extras.
It's too late for me I've already gone down the rabbit hole. I have all the slip-covers so far and I can't stop now, God help me On the other hand I can't wait to see the new transfer on The Children, I've only seen the murky Troma dvd so this should eye opening.
Luckily I'm so much of a cheapskate that I'll only buy VS titles when there's a significant sale and most slipcovers are sold out by the time those movies hit the 50% off sales.
I usually only buy when there is a sale also, I just buy all the slip-cover editions I missed thoughout the year on the BF sale and the half-way to BF sale to catch up.
I don't need the slipcovers but I have to say that they are quite sturdy and beautiful and since i've been a halfway subscriber this year and a yearly subscriber for the next year, i automatically have them and I reckon they will look very nicely in my collection slipcovers are of course also a way for VS to guarantee that a certain amount of their releases are sold at a not-sale price
I'm still waiting for a shipping confirmation here. I know they got a ton of orders, but I ordered within the first 2 hours (attempted to order within the first 5 minutes but the site was wonky) so I thought they would have at least shipped 11 days later.
