It sounds like this line might be dead. Apparently LionsGate let go their employees who were in charge of the Vestron line.
That's crap, at least we got the main titles (Can you call Chud II a main title!), For me Chopping Mall got release, so I will always be happy, it would be nice if they made an announcement about this and their reasons why, but I suspect that won't happen, which is probably a good thing, if they don't announce its dead they can always drop new titles? Maybe?
Their titles are always over priced, anyways. I was happy to score Parents when it went on sale for 15 bucks or so..... and I'll forever be greatful of their Wishmaster release.
I'm almost relieved, because I'm a slave to their numbered slipcovers, and my OCD acted up big time with these titles. If they weren't numbered I wouldn't have gotten them all, but I felt I had to pick up a few titles I didn't want to keep the flow going. Plus, they're ridiculously over priced. I'm happy with most of these releases, but otherwise would never have bought Blood Diner, Parents, The Unholy and Gothic. The rest I'm fine with. Even C.H.U.D. II.
^ I'm in the same boat. I would have never bought Lair, Unholy, and Gothic if it wasn't for the #ed slips. I have all 17 with slipcovers, plus my Leprechaun Collection with slip shelved right next to them.
I was very impressed by the Maximum Overdrive release. They fixed the black levels and it made a world of difference in the overall presentation which was lacking in the dvd and Italian blu ray. The Waxwork print on the other hand was complete crap. Thank god Nameless Media came out with their own and it was stellar compared to Vestron's release. The Vestron release looked over exposed without any pop in color. The Nameless version brings in the color and more detail.
I too own all of the Vestron Blu-ray releases (with Slipcovers). Sad to see them go though, as the bonus features were always excellent. The transfers were hit and miss however, and they could have put more care into some of those. I was hoping The Wraith would at least come out in the line, but the German Blu-ray will suffice. The sequel to Waxwork also looks far better on the Nameless Blu-ray.
Michael Felsher of Red Shirt Pictures had a Facebook chat tonight. There are three titles "actively being worked on with a fourth in the works." "The line is not dead; it has not been killed." The departures have "caused delays and things", but things are apparently being "ramped back up." One title is almost completely finished, the master had some problems that are finally being worked out. The extras are complete.
Excellent news , There is still a few titles I want from this line mainly The Wraith, Eyes of Fire, Ghoulies 3, The Cube, Etc.
I have to imagine The Dentist 1&2 are in the next batch, or at least in the works, considering they have releases in Germany and soon in France.
Someone on Blu-ray.com who claims to have insider knowledge said one of the upcoming titles can be classified as an "action" film. I hope it's not The Wraith, although that will make it to the line eventually no doubt. I'm secretly hoping it's Neon City. I only need that and 1981's Midnight, after which the line can die off if it wants to.
And both are extremely cheap (especially for this line) at Target: https://www.target.com/p/little-mon...1e&lnm=81938&afid=bluray&ref=tgt_adv_xasd0002 https://www.target.com/p/shivers--b...1e&lnm=81938&afid=bluray&ref=tgt_adv_xasd0002
