I'm not sure that gettin old is fun but it definitely beats the alternative.

You're always getting older. Even if you're not around to know it.

That sounds more like a theological debate than a true statement. If something no longer exists can it truly get older?

Ask the corpse as it rots in the ground.

Its not merely a theological curiosity, its flat out fact. What you are - biologically, chemically, mentally, spritually - continues to age after death. Its debatable whether some of those things will still "exist", but some (the material aspects) indisputably still do. And they still age. Even as their identification as being "you" erodes.

While I certainly agree that the physical remains will continue to age I don't see how you can say that spiritually you continue to age. Who is to say that you even have a spirit?

I just watched the Slumber Party Massacre remake. WOW! What a pile of stinking dog shit.

The Killer I will say was fantastic the rest of it wasn't.

If this is the best shout can do, please just stick to releasing other people's product.

The Sword and the Sorcerer arrived earlier today in the mail. Here are some random screencaps I've grabbed from the included Blu-ray disc:

Oh yeah, it wasn't good. I mentioned that in its thread on this site as I was confused to see a few members praise it. I couldn't wait for that shit to end, even if a few of the ideas they had weren't terrible. It's one of those movies that has you constantly checking the time only to be depressed at how slowly it's going by.

That's one hell of an upgrade, over the (even at the time) mediocre DVD transfer. :)

There are audio issues though... A text screen comes up before the movie starts, noting that the 5.1 surround mix is simply sourced from an older release which had inherent channel/spatial issues. I would imagine it's simply the old Anchor Bay 5.1 track, but they don't specify where exactly it came from.

The original 2.0 "Stereo" track comes from an optical source, but also has some minor damage to it that couldn't really be corrected. They recommend it as being the best choice for overall audio quality.

So either way, neither will be optimal... but at least there isn't severe damage to the optical audio track.

Yeah, some of those 5.1 remixes, that Anchor Bay did, was just horrible. Often the dialogue, would bleed out to all the channels. Some almost sounded like a mono track, played through all the speakers.
It's too bad they couldn't make a new 5.1 track. But I guess the sound elements are missing.

I'll stick with the 2.0 track.

Recently watched Shout! Studios' Slumber Party Massacre. It's more of a parody than a remake of the 1982 film. The tonal shifts aren't smooth, but seeing what boys really do at sleepovers and the shower scene from the female gaze are worth the price of admission. The original is better and if you hold it in super high regard (I like it, don't love it) I could understand getting upset by the tack this film takes.

I just watched the Alligator UHD.

    Another jawdropping upgrade.
These native 4k scans are, too me, more impressive than modern movie releases, since those are mostly stuck with upscaled 2K DI transfer.
It's razor sharp, and beautiful colors.

Been a long time since I last saw the movie, and it was even more fun than I remembered.

    Gonna watch The Howling tonight.

Great to hear, looking forward to getting mine, I've not seen it in years so I hope it still holds up, I have fond memories of this from my first viewing after finding a pre-cert at a car boot and loving it, so I'm fairly confident it will hold up! On a side note, I didn't think it was too bad a price considering a 3 discs set and 1 is a UHD, very good considering their single blu ray pricing.

I totally agree with the modern movie stuff, I just don't see the point of buying a 4k disc when the master was 2k, may as well buy the 1080p and let your TV upscale. I don't mine purchasing them if they are cheap (I brought the Halloween 2018 4k for £6). But I won't pay coin for them.
