Totally agree, A making of would have been nice. It just always seems to be interviews, fucking interviews. Shout have got very lazy.

I find interviews mostly pretty boring. Especially SF ones. What happened to their feature-length docs? Those were great. I don’t care about hearing some obscure actor talking about their nearly non-existent careers most of the time. There ends up being so much overlap too when you have a ton of interviews as opposed to a doc with all those interviews edited together.

Was their any deleted footage talked about? I don't mean for the Blu, I mean in general about the film. Like did Carpenter or Russell ever talk over the years about scenes, action, gore, etc... cut?

I miss the early days of special features, when they started to arrive on Laserdisc, like the amazing doc on The Thing, which was also brought over to the DVD release.
I used to listen to all the commentary tracks on the older horror movies back in those days. But sadly they became pretty damn boring, when it became a standard to include one, on almost every new movie.
But anything featuring Carpenter is pure gold.

I like that they do interviews, but having making of documentaries again would be great. If its anything The Wizard received a making of doc.

Yeah, I watched the shout disc a few days ago, and you can't tell the difference anymore between the unrated footage and the rest of the movie :)
Still keeping my old Lionsgate disc, for when I want the grindhouse look :D

Yeah it's a fucking disaster. I wish Cult weren't so shit or I could have bought their disc and saved a tonne of money. Looking at the differences at the moment I'm still going to stick with my DVD and wait for either a price drop on Shouts or a UK disc to show up.

Yeah, it's like I have gone backwards in a way. I really couldn't care less about special features at this point. Especially if I already own the flick, you're going to need a brand new transfer, or some newly discovered alternate cut. I've found that just a lot of special features today are kinda bland. "Nerd" culture is en vogue now and the horror movie convention circuit is big business now, so it just seems like most actors and crew interviewed are just going through the motions because they know there will be nice paycheck involved. The recent release of Spookies is a big exception, though. You can tell they put a lot of heart and soul into those documentaries.

I appreciate special features now more than ever. In the past it was (for me): put the movie in, watch it and then watch another. Now it's - put on those special features (if any) and/or watch the movie again but with commentary. Keeps the experience fresh for me.
