Loved galaxy of terror as a kid, I was told at the time it was a sequel to alien so that really made me sit up! Unfortunately I hated when I re-visitied it.

Forbidden world, enjoyed it as a kid, need to re-visit, fingers crossed!

I revisited Forbidden World several months back and it didn't hold up that well for me.

Shout Factory has definitely become the single most-annoying label for me. The constant re-releases are bad enough, but the Criterion-like price points are even worse. The Body Snatcher gives me hope that me hope that they're finally going to become more reliable in terms of transfer quality--but I HATE seeing them getting their hands on so many Universal, Lewton, and Hammer classics. I finally bit the bullet and picked up Dracula, Prince of Darkness for about $25, and BOTH transfers are lousy. The new, darker Warner Archives transfer of Horror of Dracula is fantastic, but the darker new transfer of Prince of Darkness looks like the product of lower-generation elements (which it is). If these are the best available elements, I get that--but I'd feel a lot better about it the disc was available for a reasonable price.

Shout's so-called "sales" are laughable compared to the bargain opportunities we get from other labels. I pray they at least continue to produce better transfers. Supplements never justify a premium price for me--especially when they don't involve substantive involvement from the filmmakers and actors. We're not going to get Karloff or Lugosi commentary tracks, and as much as I enjoy Tom Weaver's audio work, I've read so extensively on those films that scholarly commentaries don't offer much new info. I'll probably continue to buy a lot of their titles, but I never feel good about it.

They are WAY COOL. "Galaxy of Terror" is often called an "Alien" rip off which couldn't be further from the truth. Maybe *some* of the production is "Alien" esque but the story plays like an R rated Star Trek episode. It's enjoyable drive-in goodness.
"Forbidden World" is the more "Alien" inspired flick. Even the lead villian creature has familiar toothy, Cybill Sheppard grin. It does have its own little story to tell.
Definitely worth a look and better than most drive-in fare.

I've seen Galaxy of Terror twice now and I hated it both times. I just couldn't get engaged with any of it. It's short but feels like it goes on forever to me. A couple of scenes are cool but I don't like any of the characters or the plot.

Forbidden World on the other had I still enjoy. It's another Alien rip-off and pretty cheesy, but in a fun way. Also has some nice nudity in there and a pretty cool monster that evolves throughout the movie.

    Ordered!

I'm not sure what is going on with Amazon the past day or two, but they've actually had some decent prices. This never happens!

Great price, thank you, the postage to UK was a bit scary (I'd forgot amazon US charged so much for postage), but it's cheaper than ordering through my normal vendor, so ordered (with this new pricing strategy from Shout, could this be an accident?)

It didn't last long at that price, less than a day? Glad I ordered when I did!

I got a copy as well. Never seen it but the trailer looked weird enough to take a chance at that price.
