Amazon has a few of them at these prices too. Some older collector's editions at $16.99.
Has anyone actually seen this intro? If IMDB is to believed, wouldn't the version with the pre-title sequence also have the rape scene trimmed by 14 seconds? Considering how rare THE LAMP cut is I'm fine with Shout releasing THE OUTING on HD. THE OUTING shouldn't be considered unreleasable on HD because of some missing rare footage that few have seen.
I would love if Scream Factory could put any of these movies out on bluray and have them packed with special features.
Return of The Living Dead Part 2 with (fixed audio)
Dead End Drive In
Waxwork 1 and 2
Tales From the Crypt Presents Demon Knight
Critters 1 and 2
Class of 1999
My Science Project
Three O'clock High
Gleaming The Cube
Prayer of The Rollerboys
Just One Of The Guys
Dream A Little Dream
I'm actually very surprised that most of these movies haven't been put out on bluray yet and i would love if Scream Factory could put these out as special editions jam packed with features and upgraded audio and PQ.
I personally don't feel the prologue is vital to this film. I actually prefer the alternate opening theme music in The Outing. I'm not familiar with this film's release history, but my guess would be that MGM probably owns the rights to The Outing, but not The Lamp. Optimally, we'd get a release with both cuts seamlessly branched, but this version is better than nothing.
It's not vital to the film, but the intro runs about 4+ minutes (in PAL) and is pretty cool nonetheless. It just feels like something missing when I watch the US cut now.
I doubt I'll ever get rid of my UK DVD of The Lamp.
That's understandable. I had never seen the film prior to the Shout! release, so watching it, in this state, seems completely natural.
the one that surprises me the most is hell night.. it first came out on dvd in 1999...
hell night is definitely overdue along with some of the other movies i listed. I'm sure Scream Factory will be putting a few of those out in the next year or so. Some of the movies i listed have a pretty strong following.
Yeah, I'm sure Shout Factory would love to put most of these out, as well. Thing is, most aren't even available to them at this point--unless they make a deal with WB, Lionsgate, etc. The only one that seems possible right now is Troll, cause they've been mining the MGM catalog hard.
Invaders from Mars Blu-ray review: http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/17011/invadersfrommars.html
You're not kidding- what a fucking waste of $7 that was! And they released Dennis Hopper's The Hot Spot in another 4-pack that I want a lot.
Right now, I'm much happier with Mill Creek's 8-movie sets. Though, there's always 1 on a disc that suffers. I bought the "Dark Passengers" set just for Hostel: Part II and, of course, it's the movie that looks like shit. It's on the same disc as Anatomie parts 1 and 2 and they look beautiful...but one has forced subtitles I can't remove and the other has forced English dubbing with no subtitles or alternate foreign-language track... Great job, ya idiots. I'd much rather have the movie in Dutch or German (wherever the film takes place) and forced subtitles.
I'm not sure that was the problem- because all 4 movies in the set were widescreen and all 4 of the transfers were abysmal. Even What's the Matter with Helen?, which MGM previously released.
Bluray.com is showing a DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION set that seems to contain 4 blurays. I don't see any info on Shout's site. Has anyone heard anything about this from other sources? I'm pumped!!!
I bought the set mostly for The Vagrant, actually.
The version I saw on Netflix was fullscreen but it's an extremely sexist movie. No bones about it: it is as sexist as any movie could be ever be. The victim is frequently called a whore because of her job and then tortured because some asshole didn't think she was a good mother. Then the movie tries to prove them right by making the son a psycho.
As did I, actually I really enjoyed the sets and appreciate budget releases for what they are. I mean consodering the ransom like prices some of these vhs fetch I appreciate being able to pay one low price for any number of unreleased gems.
I wish they would release them separately. Only interested in the first Decline.
Hopefully this means a Blu of Spheeris' Suburbia will be next.
I didn't even know there had been a third one, so I'm assuming the 4th disc is purely bonus material (primarily from the 1st one, I hope!). I'll be glad to get rid of my old bootleg DVD of the 1st.

Amazon.ca has the Mad Max blu ray available for pre-order for only $15.99. that's pretty low compared to their other collectors edition releases.
Yeah, the SRP is only $19.99 on that one instead of the usual $29.99. Not sure why (maybe they're recycling the MGM transfer)?
I pre-ordered directly from Shout with the exclusive poster, even though I'm not the biggest Mad Max fan.
Pre- Ordered a month or so ago from Amazon USA for $14.98.
