Although the decade overall is a wash, there's some undeniable gems for me:

    10) Frankenhooker (1990)
    09) Braindead (1992)
    08) Dark Angel: The Ascent (1994)
    07) Lord of Illusions (1995)
    06) Ninth Gate, The (1999)
    05) Audition (1999)
    04) Riget (1994) / Riget 2 (1997)
    03) Ringu (1998)
    02) Lost Highway (1997)
    01) Dellamorte Dellamore (1994)

Honorable mention to Sleepy Hollow (1999).

Yeah looking over the lists, very weak decade indeed.

i dunno that this was actually such a weak decade (although i think dvdfanatic goes a little overboard in his defense of it). i think its just trendy to bash whatever decade came along previously. for instance, it was really popular in the 90's to loath all things 80's. im not quite old enough to remember (born in '82), but can anyone comment on whether the 70's were as equally reviled during the 80's? people seem to view the entire decade as being nothing but self-involved angst-y posing, with very little substance. but as with other decades, when things were done right, they were done pretty damn well. these ten below are not just films i had to choose because i was restricting myself to the decade, they're honestly some of my favourite films...

    10. The Frighteners
    9. From Dusk 'Till Dawn
    8. Jacob's Ladder
    7. DeadAlive
    6. Misery
    5. Dellamorte Dellamore
    4. Se7en
    3. Ravenous
    2. The Silence of the Lambs
    1. Bram Stoker's Dracula

    In no particular order:

    Silence of the Lambs
    Dead-Alive/Braindead
    Misery
    Ravenous
    Se7en
    .....
    ....
I'm sorry I couldn't think of any more. I hated the 90s with a passion.
