Yes, yes, I'm well aware, but I go as far as the PS3 which will play at least the multi-region discs. I have yet to find a movie where buying a secondary player is necessary and hope to keep it that way
Fair enough - I personally enjoy being able to buy the best version of a favourite out of several releases and not being left out when a favourite is available in only one region.
I second this. Having to buy a second region free player is a pain in the ass. Sorry, but absolutely NO MOVIE is worth this. None. If a company like Arrow, or whomever releases a film that I want and they invest a large amount of time adding extras, and assuring a better transfer, etc..and then the they release them region locked, they can keep them. Eventually, it will get a region 1 release and if not, so what. I have hundreds of sealed dvds/blu rays and it's not the end of the world if I don't get a copy of the Mutilator. It been fucking forever since it was supposed to be released by Code Red, so at this point, screw it. If Arrow is stupid enough to release a region locked blu ray, then it will reflect in most U.S. sales. There are many other horror films that are much better than this title. Can't for the life of me understand all of the hoopla around this film. I had the Vestron VHS and got rid of it years ago.
I feel like most of the people who preach this live outside the US or Canada. But here in the US, it really isn't that necessary to get a region free blu-ray player. We're kind of spoiled when it comes to getting stuff on blu-ray. If you live outside of the U.S. and are at all interested in collecting movies, you'd almost have to be region free. We have companies like Scream Factory cranking out the Sleepaway Camp movies, Pumpkinhead, Night Of The Demons, Psycho II and III, The Final Terror, Death Valley, Final Exam, Evilspeak, Deadly Eyes, The Slumber Party Massacre, The Town That Dreaded Sundown, Witchboard, etc, most of which are region locked and not available on blu-ray outside of the US. Synapse's incredible editions of Curtains and Prom Night are region locked. I want to say Kino region locks, at least their MGM titles. Olive locks a lot of their blu-rays. Death Spa from MPI is locked. The list goes on and on and on. Most of the UK and German blu-rays I've wanted that aren't available in the US have been region free, so I've been pretty lucky. The occasional one that isn't is definitely annoying, but so far there hasn't been anything I can't live without. The Mutilator could definitely be a dealbreaker, but if this news is true and Arrow is releasing it, I can't imagine they wouldn't release it here too now that they have a US branch.
Unknown. Arrow hasn't actually made any sort of announcement, yet. https://www.facebook.com/ArrowVideo..._id=944500338917294&offset=0&total_comments=1
Looks like 88Films spilled the beans that Arrow is at least in the process of acquiring the title. No need to be so rude to those of us who are happy this is likely coming out now.
Coming to Blu-ray April 24th in Germany. Will use same Synapse transfer most likely. No idea about the extras though.
I just hope it finally does come out without any problems! :nervous: This has been a great couple of weeks for announcements!
I'm amazed that a dude who makes his own VHS rips hasn't been frustrated by numerous films only being available in Region B. At the very least you must have a solution for playing PAL discs.
The movies that I've really wanted on Blu-Ray that were not Region A luckily have been multi-region, so my PS3 has handled it. As for standard DVD's I do have a couple of region free players. Those are cheap as hell
Seriously anybody with a laptop can play PAL discs. How is this even an issue anymore? VLC will play anything you throw at it (except blu-ray discs). ~Matt
Nope the 1 time tried to play a pal DVD I got a system lock warning. If you have a external DVD drive you play anything.
