Somehow with VCI, I doubt the quality will be as good as the previous BU disc...

i missed out on the BU blu, but have their dvd, which is great. i won't be paying exorbitant prices for the OOP blu, so if this one either a) improves upon the BU dvd picture quality substantially or b) includes worthwhile unique supplements i could see myself upgrading. considering that the arrow blu is misframed, and the BU blu is OOP, this might be my only reasonable option for the film in HD.

i'd like to see VCI revisit blood and black lace. if any of their titles needs an upgrade in terms of A/V, its that one.

VCI's re-release of Blood and Black Lace was pretty good wasn't it?

Gorgo's release on Blu-ray figures because I just finally bought it in September thinking, "VCI will never upgrade it and a Blu-ray is probably never going to happen."

I don't know why you would say that considering their Blu Ray releases have been pretty damn good in the a/v department. Heck, I can't think of a bad disc they've released in the last 5 years or so.

I meant that I doubt their release will have all of the audio tracks, extras, etc. that the packed BU release had. And many of the previous extras were produced by BU, so I would be surprised if all of those made it to the VCI release. If the VCI has new extras, then great...but I strongly doubt this is going to be the definitive release. I welcome them to prove me wrong.

Compared to the German release, VCI´s version it´s like a VHS.

its stacked with great extras, and its in the proper aspect ratio, but the transfer itself is, like Demoni said, like a vhs rip. its pretty brutal.

VCI has been working on the blu-ray for Blood and Black Lace for a few years now or at least that's what they've said.

So, this new Blu-ray won't even include the Italian language option then? :eek2:

Yup, I'll definitely hold onto my old Blue Underground Blu-ray. This just doesn't even sound like a potential double-dip...

This new release from VCI sounds lame. No Italian language option and no new extras.

A couple of months back i missed out on a complete steal with the Blue Underground BD. An Amazon marketplace seller had a copy up for sale at £9.99!!! I couldnt believe it so i emailed him to ask if it were a mistake and he was selling the DVD. Whilst I waited for the reply it sold. And yes it was the BD and not the DVD. Gutted. Someone got the bargain of the year there.

Next time, jump on it first and ask questions later.
And if not the real deal, you could always return it.

I already "have access" to the BU copy of the film in hi-def, but now I wonder if the dvd set would be worth buying for the 2nd disc of features? $44.99 is a little steep considering I don't wanna buy anymore dvds though. As for the bastardized Arrow version, anyone know if the features are at least watchable?

I wouldn't pay $45 just for the extras disc. Do you own the film already? Somebody might be willing to...ahem...help you out with the 2nd disc.

Yeah I guess you're right. I'd rather not expand on what I already stated, but I do have access to a hi-def copy at my disposal, ahem. I don't want to potentially upset the folks who moderate this wonderful forum by elaborating further. Hopefully I can check out the features one day. Now that VCI is releasing it, I guess there won't be any hope of someone like Shout Factory working their magic on another domestic release.
