Is it too early to start getting excited for Halloween?

I did this last year, thought I'd throw together a quick one for this year. I typically do this for myself anyway, just the noteworthy stuff. Lots of fun new horror on the way between now and October. I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of these in the annual October Horror Movie thread.

    August:

    14th:

    KING COHEN.JPG

King Cohen (VOD) - Buckle up for KING COHEN, the true story of writer, producer, director, creator and all-around maverick, Larry Cohen (Black Caesar, God Told Me To, Q: The Winged Serpent, The Stuff). Theatrically TCM doesn't have anything horror related scheduled for this October unfortunately. Which is to bad because this year is the:
200th Anniversary of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein publication.
8oth Anniversary of Orson Welle's broadcast of The War of the Worlds (10/30/38).

As a Frankenstein / Bride of Frankenstein feature would be awesome, like they did a few years ago. Fathom may do something yet however, as they always seem to wait until the last minute to announce their horror themed showings in October.

I'm a big fan of Frankenstein so I'm working on scheduling a Frankenstein film every day in October. (There's enough of them) And this year my annual Halloween Movie Night falls on Bela Lugosi's birthday for the first time. So I'm thinking of a Lugosi / Frankenstein / War of the Worlds style movie theme night.

But overall I'm probably going to take October easy this year. Last couple of years I was kinda forcing it with a movie a day and it just wasn't as fun anymore. So I may take a breather this year.

Last year I watched 31 horror films in October, one for every day of the month. Everything from new releases to silents. Really enjoyed catching up to a number of old 30's and 40's low budgeters. Fun stuff.

I'm trying to start in September. Perhaps mid September. I'm watching to see when the seasons change and where I am on stuff. I'm attempting to stretch out the October Halloween movie period to a month and a half if not two months.

I just recently compiled a list of first time viewings and afterwards I realized just how far behind I am on the various horror films released in 2018. As of right now I have written down about 54 films
Of course I doubt I will get through all of them - these lists are tentative for me - so by the mid way mark of October I might have to say "Fuck it!" to about 10 or 15 films in order to fit in the annual viewings I have in my bluray/dvd collection.

It's September 2nd, let the count down to October begin! :D

I have more than 54 movies on one of my papers. I have movies noted on multiple papers and two files on my computer that I need to print out and sort for duplicates. I have enough to last for many Halloweens. And that's not including horror videogames to play and books to read. But it's a work in progress like my Halloween setup along with my Alien and Predator corner. No need to rush things or make it feel like a chore.

I think I'm going to start watching when I can find a good pumpkin beer in stores. They are all seasonal so far and I still haven't tried one yet. I hope they get them soon.

I've been adding to this here and there, including today's VOD release of Slice and Shudder's Halloween line-up.

If I'm missing anything major, let me know and I'll add it.

Several new additions to the schedule today, including NetFlix's Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina (which looks surprisingly great, based on today's trailer), as well as Hulu's original series Light As A Feather and Blumhouse produced Into The Dark (a series of 12 holiday-themed feature length films premiering one-per-month).

Let's not forget SyFy's October line-up, which includes the new season of Channel Zero and 5 original movies premiering throughout the month (No Escape Room, Cucuy: The Boogeyman, Karma, Killer High, Dead In The Water).

October is shaping up quite nicely! There's a new horror offering nearly every day of the month!

I just read about Sabrina. That's a guilty pleasure of mine. It sounds like they're going full Goth with the reboot which I can get behind but the joke before was kinda that it was more like GAP than Hot Topic. So it would be a very different tone if they changed that.

I saw this in the horror pre-orders on Amazon. It's a low-budget British production from the makers of Cabin 28.

I saw a trailer when I was looking it up, and it looked... less than watchable. Which is a shame, as I'm always searching for fun Halloween horror films I haven't seen.
