Beast in the Cellar does not have a Slipcover, and Blood on Satan's Claw wasn't supposed to come with an extra one so it sounds like a mistake or something. Was the Jack the Ripper free Blu-ray included?

Yup...I got that too (and a sticker)...it came in a little cardboard sleeve... I think you're right, it was probably just a mistake...

From comments I've been reading elsewhere, it seems that a lot of orders have been getting extra slipcovers for Blood on Satan's Claw with no explanation provided.

I got an extra slip for The Changeling back when it was released so it is a thing they have a history of doing.

I also got an extra Slip of The Changeling come to think of it. But the original one had a slight "ding" to a corner, so that was probably why they included an extra one.

Now if only Severin wouldn't be such dicks about giving a v3 replacement disc...

Severin Films have just announced 3 new titles coming February 25th, 2020! Here's the February Releases trailer:

CRIES OF PLEASURE (aka Gemidos de placer) (1983)
Obscure even by hardcore Jess Franco fan standards, it remains the legendary writer/director’s most daring work of his early ‘80s erotic shocker oeuvre: Inspired by Hitchcock’s ROPE, Franco utilized long takes, minimal edits and his beloved Lina Romay at her most extreme for this de Sade-induced saga of violence, depravity and psychosexual mayhem among the amoral elite. Antonio Mayans (aka Robert Foster of DEVIL HUNTER and HOT NIGHTS OF LINDA), Rocío Freixas (THE SINISTER DR. ORLOFF) and Elisa Vela (aka Jasmina Bell of MANSION OF THE LIVING DEAD) co-star in this fascinating Franco rarity from his Golden Films Internacional period, now featuring a 4k scan from the original negative and all-new Special Features.

    Special Features:

    • In The Land Of Franco Part 1: Stephen Thrower Tours Multiple Franco Locations in Portugal
    • When Donald Met Jess and Lina Part 1: Filmmaker Donald Farmer Interviews the Power Couple in 1993
    • Jess Franco’s Golden Years: Interview with Stephen Thrower, Author of ‘Murderous Passions & Flowers of Perversion – The Delirious Cinema of Jesús Franco’

NIGHT OF OPEN SEX (aka La noche de los sexos abiertos) (1983)
During the same period that he was making the certifiably insane INCONFESSABLE ORGIES OF EMMANUELLE, SEXUAL STORY OF O and CRIES OF PLEASURE for Spain’s Golden Films Internacional, Goya Award winner Jess Franco also wrote and directed this delirious hybrid of sexy caper comedy, EuroSpy suspense thriller, hard-boiled erotic noir, and depraved fetish shocker complete with jaw-dropping girl-on-girl violence. Jess’ equally legendary partner/muse Lina Romay – here at her most lusciously uninhibited – stars with Antonio Mayans (CANNIBAL TERROR), Lorna Green (MACUMBA SEXUAL), Albino Graziani (MANSION OF THE LIVING DEAD) and even Jess himself in this “fast-moving and slyly humorous” (El Franconomicon) rarity, now scanned in 4k from the original negative with all-new Special Features.

    Special Features:

    • In The Land Of Franco Part 2: Stephen Thrower Tours Multiple Franco Locations in Portugal
    • When Donald Met Jess and Lina Part 2: Filmmaker Donald Farmer Interviews the Power Couple in 1993
    • The Night of Open Jess: Interview with Stephen Thrower, Author of ‘Murderous Passions & Flowers of Perversion – The Delirious Cinema of Jesús Franco’
Both are also available in the Open Pleasure Bundle together for a discounted price, plus the Severin Films Hall of Fame Enamel Pin #12: Lina Romay!

    THE ASTROLOGER (1975)
Before he became NYC’s favorite ‘80s action auteur with hits like THE EXTERMINATOR, THE PROTECTOR and SHAKEDOWN, as well as executive producer of grindhouse classics that included MANIAC COP, FRANKENHOOKER and BASKET CASE 2 & 3, writer/director James Glickenhaus made his feature debut with this bizarre tale of government skullduggery, satanic killings, zodiacal mayhem and messianic horror. Playboy centerfold Monica Tidwell (NOCTURNA) stars in the “ultra obscure and undeniably fascinating” (Fright.com) thriller – also known as SUICIDE CULT and a one-time U.K. Section 3 ‘Video Nasty’ – based on the acclaimed novel by John Cameron, now featuring a 4k scan from the director’s personal answer print and loaded with all-new Special Features.

    Special Features:

    • Sign of the TimesJames Glickenhaus on The Astrologer
    • Monica Tidwell Remembers The Astrologer – Interview With Actress Monica Tidwell
    • Tales From the Set – Interviews with Filmmakers Brendan Faulkner and Frank M. Farel
    • Suicide Cult Reversible Cover
Grab all 3 releases together at a discounted price with the Astrologer's Open Pleasure Bundle (with Lina Romay enamel pin too!)

Always looking forward to more Franco.

I'm not an enamel pin guy (their recent popularity is kinda baffling to me) but most are recognizable. That doesn't look anything like Romay to my unsophisticated eyes. And Lina is very distinctive.

Yeah, since Blood on Satan's Claw comes with the slip cover under the shrink wrap my guess would be that if any slip cover looks even the slightest damaged they throw in an extra slip cover.

That's how picky slip cover collectors are.

Killer Crocodile is a blast. I enjoyed it more than Crawl. Rubber creatures all the way. It may be a little tame by Italian horror standards, but the cast, locations, and especially the creature make this a joy to watch. It feels like Anaconda by way of a Jaws sequel.

Extras are great as well, as there are over an hour of interviews. Although Paganini Horror carryover Pietro Genuardi's stories are bit extra compared to everyone else. He mentions a crew member drowned in the river and five minutes later it was back to work. It's strange none of the other three interviewees mention anyone died making this movie. Anthony Crenna also mentions a lot of the scenes where they had to get in the river were shot in a botanical garden with a cement bottom (although he said he contracted dysentery from the water).

Good stuff though. I'm excited for the sequel, but I might wait a week or so just to avoid it feeling repetitive. Not that that's a bad thing.

I think severins print for both threads and wax mask look awful.

Threads looks upconverted and wax is way to bright, the European prints win hands down for both.

Severin didn't even use the restoration for Threads, so it's really not much of a surprise that it's a huge difference.

I grabbed the UK release when it first came out, and promptly parted with the Severin release.

Nothing for me in that February batch. Very little for my tastes so far overall across all the boutique labels for the early part of 2020. VinSyn seems to be ramping up their smut lineup after they said the sex stuff wasn't selling well and now Severin with their Franco smut. I really wish I'd gotten into sexploitation more but my interest in adult content is limited to free internet porn for quick gratification. I'm not in it for the storylines lol

I'm old. I had to Google Awkwafina to see who she was. Sounds like an interesting project!

If I didn't work for an Asian-American film festival (a few years ago we showed a documentary, Bad Rap, that featured her before she moved into acting) I probably wouldn't know who she was either. Gotta say, working for three minority-based film festivals (Asian, Latino, and LGBT) has opened my world to a lot of incredible films I probably wouldn't be aware of.
