I don't know if I'd really go by the DVDBeaver screenshots for judging colors. They are known to use a flawed matrix in their captures that often just doesn't correctly capture colors from one encode to another.

Caps-a-holic will probably have some accurate comparisons up in the near future.

    Exactly.

There are people on the blu-ray forums who are already cancelling their SS preorders bexause of the redness. I have a feeling it’s not something you’d even notice while watching the movie, but by only directly comparing them.

Either way the SS is the better package. Better artwork imo (even though I know the Severin uses the original art), 40-page book and a poster. Plus all the same extras including the CD. And the audio on the SS is 24-bit not 16. So SS wins imo.

Yep, exactly ... screenshots can be good indicators if the differences are larger, but when they are so "close" (and may have a matrix capture error) it's best to not judge them by a simple review site and just 4 screenshots.

I don't know why so many people just gloss over the audio differences either.

Yeah, obviously I want the absolute best release, but my setup is home is very basic and it's unlikely that I'd notice any real difference in the sound. If I had a home theater, it might be an issue. But I literally have a regular wall-mounted flatscreen with no additional audio hookups.

Agreed, I wouldn't even worry about it then. If you're just using TV speakers you wouldn't notice any difference at all...it might possibly even be downscaled to 16-bit before it reaches the final output.

I don’t know. On paper 24 bit is obviously better than 16, but it depends upon the source as well as the encoding. You may not even hear a difference except with an audiophile sound system and even then it may just be a placebo effect.

I received my Severin bluray yesterday. I didn't watch the film yet but I skipped around the check out the quality and thought it looked/sounded pretty good.

I did, however, watch one of the bonus features that I've been anticipating: The House On Cheesman Park: The Haunting True Story Of The Changeling. I was vaguely familiar with the story upon which the movie is based and I was anxious to get some more info about it.

I'm just curious. Did anyone else watch this bonus feature? If so, did you find the interviewee really difficult to listen to, or was it just me? I thought he had a really odd way of speaking. His sentences broke in weird places, he pronounced certain words in a strange way, etc. It was almost like he'd had a major medical event or something that affected his speech. I don't say this to be unkind or rude - just an observation. On top of that, the entire feature was him speaking - almost in one long continuous sentence.

The Severin release's "Soundtrack CD" reportedly has an audio glitch also, so if you have the older 1CD or 2CD soundtracks, it's best to just stick with those also. No word yet on if the Second Sight release will correct the 5.1 audio issues or the CD soundtrack glitch...

My "bundle" (the first sold out set) finally shipped from Severin (albeit tracking # still shows in pre-shipment), but at least they shipped it Priority Mail.

^^ I only just received the Changeling "bundle" from Severin today, but sent off the email for the replacements.

The Slipcover had a crease on the back cover, but they did thankfully include a separate new folded Slipcover in the box as a replacement.

The enamel pin and poster do look pretty cool, but the "ball" was smaller than expected...but is a solid rubber ball as opposed to just a thin hollow one. It's a little smaller than a tennis ball.

It looks like it's been confirmed that the Second Sight release has none of the problems that the Severin release has with the 5.1 track's missing dialogue, the video glitch, or the CD glitch: http://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p=15427593&postcount=210

I just got a shipping confirmation on Saturday for the Second Sight release. Great news on a quality product. Looking forward to this even more now!
