I watched Alley Cat this weekend. It wasn’t bad, but it certainly wasn’t anything like Savage Streets which I‘ve seen get tossed around a lot on different sites. It looks like Alley Cat and Savage Streets were made the same year, but Alley Cat seems much more akin to a 70’s style revenge flick…it’s a little slower, the music is not as “flashy” nor are any of the wardrobes, its martial arts orientated, there’s too much focus on a “soap opera-style” love connection…and there’s even a little WIP type stuff… It was entertaining just not on the same level as Savage Streets.
Karen Mani was easy on eyes (although I cringed every time she would say “Gramps”), and that rack can go head to head with Linda Blair’s rack any day of the week. I still can’t decide which one I’d prefer. Both are extraordinary.
I have a question though…in the Katrina intro when she mentions all the films associated with Film Ventures International, she mentions Grizzly, Day of the Animals, and also mentions Don’t Go in the House…and then she mentions that she has also hosted all the mentioned films through the Katrina DVD line. Is Don’t Go in the House getting re-released by Scorpion?...possibly on BD? Or was I reading too much into what Katrina said? Anybody else catch it?
I also watched Scorpion’s Savage Streets DVD…which of course is great and highly recommended.
I liked it too. On the other hand, I HATE the Tower of Evil cover: love the artwork but I despise how everything horror-related or re-worked retro art now has to have the scratched-wax look.
Glad it's coming, regardless...just a rant. hi
The trailer has turned up on some Scorpion titles recently, so I'm assuming they're putting it out. Can't wait!
From their FB page...
So, if all goes well, we have not one, but 4 BluRay titles coming out from late July to end of August. Not too bad for a Indie label!
Yes we are now going full on with BluRay releases, with anywhere from 2 to 3, maybe even 4 BluRay releases a month!
TOWER OF EVIL
And maybe another one for August 27th! Releasing titles on BluRay is a major risk, so please support my BluRay releases whenever you can. Thanks!
is that original Unseen poster art, or newly commissioned art? either way, i quite like it.
It's the original theatrical artwork: http://www.movieposterdb.com/poster/9927fa96
I'll be buying all four BDs (depending on the price).
Still no release date for Day Of The Animals?
I think DAY OF THE ANIMALS and GRIZZLY were pushed towards Halloween-time.
I'm all in for TOWER OF EVIL, but I'm on the fence for the others. Depends how heavy the month gets -- I already have like a dozen other titles on preorder!
I definitely want The Unseen and Tower of Evil, but Day of the Animals and Grizzly much more so. I don't really mind waiting until October. So many other releases leading up to that which will really add up $.
Yes definatly. Tower Of Evil is a must own. I have loved this since I saw it on British tv back in the 80s. I have the Elite non anamorphic DVD so this BD from Scorpion should b a significant upgrade. I hope

From Scorpion's Facebook!:
"Just a heads up for all you Vincent Price fans, the BluRay of MONSTER CLUB should be hitting the shelves in late September, probably 9/24, just in time for Halloween! We received the HD master, and it’s been QCV'ed and approved, and are working on putting it together now!
Special Features will include:
Brand New 16x9 (1.78) anamorphic mastered in HD
62-minute interview of Vincent Price conducted in 1987 by film historian David Del Valle
40-minute audio interview between Del Valle and Price
On camera interview with David Del Valle
Isolated ME track
But also please note, unlike the majority of my current and up coming BluRays, this one will be region locked per the licensing agreement. So there was nothing I could do, so please note this when buying.
Thanks again and once the front art is ready, I will post it here!"
Whoa, a VP interview from "87 - should be interesting. Does it cover Monster Club? Nevertheless, these are fine extras. Can't wait
Scorpion are also releasing Harlequin (a.k.a. Dark Forces) on Blu-ray, which has always been a personal favorite of mine:
It'll be released sometime in late October. It should be a nice upgrade from the old Elite & Synapse DVD releases.
I will definitely be upgrading my old Pathfinder dvd release of The Monster Club. Between Scream Factory's collection and this from Scorpion, it's going to be a great Halloween for Vincent Price fans!
Don't forget about House of Wax 3D.
