That's sad. She didn't have an easy life. After reading the article, it occurred to me that John Heard passed last year. Bummer.

Died on mother's day, that must be hard to take for her daughter.

A great actor who was able the play a gamut of characters but made it all look effortless. R.I.P.

RIP. Kidder was always an interesting screen presence and talented performer, and always played characters that were memorable whether she was in a kids movie, a drama, or horror film.

Sad news. Always admired her attitude, which also came forward in her roles. She seemed brassy and tough on screen and off like Hepburn and Stanwyk before her. Based on how she dealt with real life tribulations the lady had a lot of grit.

I know Lois Lane is her iconic starring role, but my favorite role of hers is in Black Christmas. She played a rich, sharp-tongued lush who said some nasty things ("A girl from town was raped." "You can't rape a townie."), but she managed to make the character likable, and the movie was better for it.

RIP. Don't mean this in a limiting way, but she will always be Lois to me:

Very sad to read this news. Kidder was a huge part of what made the Superman movies so great. The new Superman films really missed the boat casting Lois Lane. I like Amy Adams in general but she's a bland Lois (I won't even acknowledge Kate Bosworth.) Kidder was smart, funny, confident, sexy. She owned that part and made it look effortless. RIP

A great talent and a unique leading lady. With her dark hair and smoky voice she was an unlikely star and her lack of cookie cutter qualities probably led her to seek out character roles faster than she otherwise might have. She was too interesting to be the latest"It Girl", she had substance. Obviously her SUPERMAN role will be her most widely remembered film (and the 1978 original still is a wonderful film) but she turned in a lot of fine work. I'm a huge fan of her Brian DePalma effort SISTERS, and she was memorable in THE AMITYVILLE HORROR and BLACK CHRISTMAS as well. She also shined in a little known film called HEARTACHES.

Her famous disappearance and the revelation of her bi-polar disorder dogged her I think. The press focused on the tabloidy aspect of the event, not the fact that she overcame that low point and remained an active talent until she passed. Headlines about a "troubled" star sell more copies than ones touting a woman working hard to live with and overcome her problems and that's on us. But she fought hard and made a life for herself after that moment of public infamy and that was her greatest achievement. Kidder had more grit than Lois Lane ever did.

RIP. I was lucky enough to meet her and get an autograph at a local comic-con a few years ago.

I met her some years back as well. Still kicking myself in the ass for not getting a photo or signature.
