Alright so I think I might cave and buy the UK blu-ray of Psycho. It came out in the UK last week, but doesn't come out in North America until mid-October. Theirs is also a steelbook with a booklet. I think I might just go ahead and get it from the UK.

Here's the review (this looks incredible!)

Someone on the blu-ray.com forums took some pics of the steelbook:

I really like the US artwork with the Bates house, but I can't decide whether or not I want to get the steelbook. So fucking tempting!

Do you reckon we will ever get to see the sequels on Blu Ray?

Nice, my pre-order from a few months ago is on the way! Shortly after I pre-ordered this I heard about the US release and almost canceled to wait for reviews of both figuring that if one was going to be better it would be the one I didn't get but that review and the caps are reassuring.

Those screen shots looks absolutely fantastic. I'll still hold off for the domestic release before deciding which version I want.

That steelbook looks awesome, but boy how I hate those stupid "15" symbols (or others of the kind), they've ruined every PAL DVD I own with their ugliness and misplacement.

wow, that does look phenomenal. i too will wait for the domestic release, but its great to know that if, for some reason, that one drops the ball, this one is pretty fantastic-looking. isn't it likely that the north american version will reuse the same transfer though? i mean why would the same studio strike two separate hd masters?

It'll be the same transfer, guaranteed. Psycho is owned by Universal worldwide, so there's no way they'd use a different master for the North American release. The transfer the UK has is the transfer we're getting.

But yeah the only thing holding me back are those stupid ratings logos. They really are ugly and ruin the artwork. I might eventually cave, though. Probably will. I'm a sucker for steelbooks.

i find the ratings logos rather exotic and interesting. funny that. on the other hand, the same title repeated directly below, but in french, makes me wanna retch. huh.

Oh yeah, I LOATHE bilingual packaging. It looks so stupid. Like, they're NOT French films, so why have the French title? Makes no sense. The packaging looks AWFUL too. Two titles? The spines make it look like an English/French double feature.

It's so tempting to buy this but I am going to hold out for the US version as I prefer the artwork. As iconic as Marion Crane in the shower screaming is i just love the artwork of that creepy house and motel.

Besides, this was on TV midweek at 2 in the morning. Luckily I was on a night shift at work and managed to watch it. Love the film.

I have the US Blu-ray on pre-order at $17.49. I never even got around to buying this one on DVD, so I'm looking forward to it.

And the screenshots from the UK Blu look really superb.

But is this the "uncut" theatrical version now, or the same trimmed "TV version" of the film I always keep hearing about?
