Same here; in spite of it's flaws I think Inferno is way better than Suspiria, story-wise.
Just received my 4K Suspiria Indiegogo Cult Films release. The steelbook itself looks really cool. I prefer it to the Synapse Steelbook. Ordered this back in October of last year so it did take a while to get. I'll be interested to see how this UHD stacks up against the Synapse blu-ray.
I've also received mine, the steelbook has a few scratches, which while very small are a little disappointing, lots and lots of extra's, looks good, however I'm not watching this until I get my 4K tv. Hopefully soon. Will be interested to see comments/reviews here.
Still waiting for mine. Hopefully it's not too far away!
I'm also assuming these just arrive and no notification was sent?
Got mine earlier today also!
It is indeed a really beautiful (and heavy) metal case. I love the embossed elements on the front cover. I can take some pics later and post them if anyone is interested...
I received no notification (other than their Indiegogo update post regarding them being shipped) – but did get a tracking number through USPS that a UK package was in transit to my address. I figured it was for this, but wasn't positive.
They shipped them out in a nice sealed small cardboard box inside a white bubble mailer. No scratches or anything on mine, the metal case looks perfect.
Mine shows the number 0140 on the top of the case, which I would assume is the individual number I got. Kinda strange that I got such a low number, as I didn't even contribute until later in the campaign.
i thought the film looked amazing but my previous experience to the film was a Dutch DVD
the only real negative for me are the subtitles, which contain some irritating mistakes (like misspelling the name of the main character!)
Are we talking about the UK 4k disc or the Synapse release?
Must be the new disc. I don't remember seeing any subtitle mistakes on the Synapse release.
Here's some pics I uploaded of the UK release:
The "embossing" on the front doesn't show up quite as well in photos, but it looks pretty amazing in person.
the UHD disc
That's a good looking steelbook.
It's actually a MetalPak case. It's similar to a SteelBook, but has a hinged case and is made of metal that's thicker/heavier than the average SteelBook.
So mine arrived yesterday and low and behold the 4k disc has a crack from the inner ring down. It won't play which is beyond disappointing and annoying. I've contacted Cult Labs through the campaign to see if I can get a replacement disc which I better be able to as the 4k disc was main reason for buying this.
Other than that tragedy the set looks fantastic. Much nicer in person as others have said.
i've read many horrible stories about damaged deliveries (mostly about the discs getting loose because the holder inside are broken off) and i was already starting to fear (i've had Arrow, 88 Films,... releases with the same problems) since you can't simply replace a steelpak like normal cases but mine was in excellent condition
i also felt that the way they packaged it was quite good so i reckon that the material of the inside of the steelpak is quite delicate
hope you get a replacement!
Wow, that really stinks. I wonder how that happened?
I once bought a new Warner Blu-ray years ago, opened the package (which was sealed perfectly) and the disc was cleanly sliced in half from the hub to the outer disc. I'm still trying to figure that one out.
Hope you get a replacement disc ZD!
The weird thing is the package is fine. The mailer, the case itself, all in great shape. Even the hub that holds the 4k disc wasn't super tight. I have no idea what happened. Been hanging out on seeing this 4k disc for ages now so it definitely sucks to have this problem. Not sure when or if Cult Labs will get back to me either and how it'll all play out. Not fun
Still heard nothing from Cultfilms which I'm not happy about. Messaged them on Indiegogo, as a reply to their update emails and through Messenger.
i think it helps if you include some pictures of the defect, if you hadn't already done it of course
Oh don't worry, I have. Getting pretty peeved about their silence though. I feel stooged.
