I'm just smoked a bowl and I'm seriously way too lazy to find the links, but it has been confirmed that it will be the full, uncut version struck from a way better source than the Media Blasters DVD. The extra footage isn't THAT big of a deal, really. It's like half a second that was removed from the crotch stab at the beginning. But still. Anamorphic with better picture and (hopefully) sound... good enough for me.
Great to see someone else is aware of the awesomeness that is THE KENTUCKY FRIED MOVIE! One of the best comedies that hardly anyone (outside the cult following of course) has ever heard of, or can remember. I too voted for the Friday 13th boxset.
Nobody knows for sure whether this is coming out this year, next year, in 2055 or at all, so it can't be included on any 2013 most-anticipated list. As much as I want this I'm not terribly hopeful it'll see a release any time soon.
Between Amityville Collection, Friday the 13th Complete Collection, In The Mouth of Madness, Scanners 2/3 - which is about time it came out, because I own the Region 2 Box set of all three movies before Scanner Cop, House of Wax 3D, and Vincent Price Collection, which I'm looking for to all of them, but for the purpose of voting, I voted for Friday the 13th Collection, just to have all 12 movies on Blu-Ray, including, hopefully Real 3D for Part 3, even though both my husband and my brother think it's the weakest and the dumbest, with the except of the the 5th one, in the series.
13 reasons why I'm not excited about the Friday the 13th release. 1) No true 3D edition of Part 3. 2) Once again we are denied uncut editions of most of these films. 3) It would mean that I would have to own the lackluster reboot and the rather lame assed Freddy Vs Jason. 4) Too expensive. 5) Once the next film in the franchise is released to blu ray, it will sit lonely by itself next to the box set of the others. That will look shitty unless I buy the next box set they release. 6) I'm a fan, but not THAT big of a fan. 7) Friday the 13th was shot in New Jersey. America's Armpit. 8) Sean S Cunningham was my least favorite character on Happy Days. 9) What? No SATURDAY THE 14TH??? 10) I blame Obama.
Man, I have opposite tastes from those guys, part 5 is my current favorite, followed by a tie between 6 and 3. Although I actually like all of the first 8, I do think 8 is the weakest of the first batch. For me it would've been Demons and Demons 2 had it been $50 for the pair, not paying $100 for them. I'd say Friday the 13th from this list. I'll be watching a lot of Friday the 13th soon between this and that 7 hour long documentary.
I actually like 3 and 5 the best. They feel the most like grindhouse/exploitative films to me that don't take themselves too seriously.
I totally agree about Demons 1 & 2. Own them on DVD, and sorry to say, Synape Films, the price for both together on Blu/DVD is just way to much for me to spend on two movies, would prefer the entire Friday the 13th Collection. My husband and my brother are not horror fans like I am, even though when me and my brother were kids, we watched horror movies with our Mom.
All! I chose the Friday the 13th Collection with the Vincent Price Collection, Prince of Darkness, In the Mouth of Madness, House of Wax 3D, Demons, and Amityville Trilogy right behind. Now, to figure out how to afford all of these!
I agree, Spawningblue. I'm going to see my Friday the 13th, get store credit from Vintage Stock, then purchase it from them, so I don't have to fork over so much money, but it will be so worth it.
I have to go with The Vincent Price Collection! Long been a fan of VP and his movies were there where I was first getting into watching horror as a kid. I still watch some we have on DVD and those around me here think they are stupid, there fore they are banned from the TV room when I am watching so I don't have to deal with the teenage comments and disruptions. Besides the pets are more confident and quiet watchers!! If I sound like an evil B when I am watching a show it's because I AM!!
I went with The Vincent Price Collection. Abominable Dr. Phibes on Blu-ray was more than I expected from Shout in this one and The Masque of Red Death is an absolute favorite of mine. I'm not a huge fan of Witchfinder General but recognize its rather large fan base and I'm glad it's there for them too. I'll most likely be getting: Prince of Darkness Day of the Dead In the Mouth of Madness Monster Club House of Wax 3D Demons Demons 2 I'll have to watch The Haunting (1963) first but I'm sure I would pick that up as well.
