Scorpion Releasing (with MGM) will finally unleash Monster Dog on DVD/Blu-ray this March!!! From Facebook!:

" March, from Kino, a disc I am producing and suggested to them, MONSTER DOG starring Alice Cooper! It will be out on both Blu and DVD, and will feature a 43min retrospective featurette, LORD OF THE DOGS, with interviews from Claudio Fragasso, Rossella Drudi, and Roberto Bessi produced by yours truly and Freak-O-Rama productions.. Expect a March street date"

LOVE the opening musical number. Will be buying for that alone. Rest of the movie... it's kind of a dud, but perfectly watchable.

The 43 minute featurette should be interesting.

I will get this, I got a dvd that I bought from Best Buy years ago from JEF Films, a notorious counterfeiter!

Never have seen this, but it was on a cable station this week, so it is on my DVR.

During my very early teens I started to get into music and I started listening to whatever my mom did which was CCR, Kiss, AC/DC etc. and of course Alice Cooper. I became addicted and for my birthday she got me this:

It had all his classic stuff along with his music from Jason Lives, Monster Dog, Prince of Darkness etc. I listened to the Jason Lives tracks over and over again and inside the set was a booklet detailing the history of the music in the set. I've never heard of Monster Dog so I went to my video store and they actually had a copy! I rented it and LOVED IT. Don't get me wrong it's shit but it's fun shit and like Cpt Hook said the opening music video is awesome.

So glad Kino is putting this out.

Wow, I was just gonna post the same thing. I saw it in the guide, such an odd movie title to be played on premium cable. It was on Encore.

What's even weirder, is in the past I've noticed films never on Blu, play on cable, then soon get an announcement for the Blu. It's like they are testing if there is an audience for the movie.

Like I know they got movies like Return of the Living Dead II, April Fools Day, Strangeland, Body Parts, Club Dread coming up. You never know?

They are gonna be playing Strange Invaders 1983, a recent Twilight Time release. Very interesting indeed.

Not sure if it's the case this time, but it's usually because now they have an HD version to air.

The movie isn't that obscure though, it's not like it's just resurfacing now. It was available on NetFlix for years until they pulled their MGM catalog.

MGM licensed and Kino/Scorpion released, so judging by the past releases it will almost certainly be region locked.

I watched it a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately, after the opening credits, it switches from 2.35:1 to 1.78:1 to fill widescreen TVs.

Also, April Fools Day has been airing in HD on the Showtime channels for years. I believe it's on NetFlix as well. So unfortunately, I don't think this means there has been any progress.

I guess it's just me wishing too much. :) Just trying to find a rhyme or reason to why these good titles are not out yet on Blu.

This movie has an incredibly sad / tragic ending. I was downright moved. The brutal tonal shift about midway through blew me away. I want to see this again. NOW. That wait 'til March is going to be dreary. But at least it's not a Shout! Factory Blu-Only fuck-up. (Looks like I'll never own Ghost Town or a remastered Witchery. Unless I spend $40 on discs I can't watch.)

Interesting review. I did not know this wouldn't be the same version as the one MGM had on Netflix. That's the one that made me so passionate about getting the film. I hope whatever changes are/were made, it maintains the same feel as MGM's version.

I really can't wait to see it again. I'm counting down the days.
