Anybody else have a bad feeling about this?
Not me, the BDs I've gotten from Mill Creek are great, especially for the price! I hope they nabbed NOTLD'90 off Sony!
Mill Creek is getting a little better with their releases. I think when it comes to sub-licensing they do a pretty good job (most part being picture quality IMO). Hope we get to see Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation.
Incidentally, what will this mean for Sony's deal with Image?
Hollow Man is an audience favorite? I thought that it had been pretty much forgotten about by this point. At any rate it's a stupid expression. Every film has an audience, no matter how small that audience may be.
that and the blob remake would be sweet
This seems promising; http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Night-of-the-Living-Dead-Blu-ray/42142/
Haven't got anything from Mill Creek on Blu yet as I haven't seen anything from them I want. Good to hear from at least one voice they have been good.
I wonder if this means new bare-bones bd's for Hostel and Hollow Man. I already have Hostel and don't need to upgrade HM from dvd, esp. since I haven't watched it at least 7 years.
Right, some of these were already released by Sony on BD (Hollow Man, Hostel, Vertical Limit), so they'll just be reissues.
I gotta say, I'm not too happy that Sony is dealing with Mill Creek--as most of the Disney/Buena Vista titles that Mill Creek have put out are pretty much garbage. Yeah, they're cheap, but that doesn't change the fact that they're trash. Hopefully, Sony is demanding some kind of quality control. Otherwise, expect mediocre PQ (BD-25 anyone?), fucked up audio (actually downgraded from dvd), and zero special features/subtitle options.
It's too bad Sony didn't decide to stick with Image, because their releases have been pretty solid.
I get a bad feeling from it because Blu-ray is suppose to be Sony's baby. If they're dumping some HD responsibility on a turn key operation like Mill Creek then they've mostly giving up on quality over quantity too.
Sony just doesn't care anymore about releasing the bulk of their old catalog.
I'd rather have Mill Creek get the deal than Echo Bridge. Mill Creek's licensed Blu-rays are actually pretty good for budget titles.
Already own Hostel, but I'm thinking about grabbing Hollow Man before Mill Creek gets a hold of it.
Mill Creek's BDs haven't been terrible (though Money For Nothing was in the wrong OAR), especially for the price. But I can't imagine them topping Sony's current disc.
i'd love it if we got 'fright night' that would make me giggle.
Keep hoping, because Twilight Time's contract has a 2+ year moratorium where no other studio can release it.
Yea I was surprised at just how good of a job Twilight Time did with the video and audio quality on fright night - one of my fave discs I own <:
WTF is up with Sony. They release Blu Ray discs and then completely ignore releasing any of their titles, instead selling off their catalog to anyone that is interested, ie. Image, Mill Creek, Twilight Time, ect.
Mill Creek isn;t the best compnay either.
Their Money for Nothing disc was released in the wrong OAR.
Their Ernest discs were just confusing, with the single disc releases having superior picture but the double disc having lossless audio!?
A lot of their other discs have just been very mediocre to bad, and usually missing extras.
They did a decent job with the Gamera films and a few others but overall I'd say their releases have been more negative then positive.
Yeah exactly Kat end of discussion. :fuck:
Another DVD-R rescued!
Mill Creek will be releasing The Legend Of Billie Jean: Fair Is Fair Edition blu-ray and DVD on July 22nd!
And they're also rescuing a few other 80s movies from obscurity...
That looks glorious!
