Double check elsewhere, I pretty much 100% positive the BD-60 plays DivX also. Well in the UK anyway, not sure if the US spec players are any different.

I'll have to check that out. I hope you're right because the BD60 is a hell of a lot cheaper.

Yeah, I'm sure that it is. Have just googled it for you and all the reviews I have seen of the BD-60 say that it supports DivX.:)

I did the same thing but while the reviews say it supports it there are very angry people who have commented saying it's not supported at all.

Maybe I should do that. It does seem to look as though it isn't compatible reading uses comments. There seems to be a lot of new players coming out now too.

So you still have not bought a player? Maybe when the stars align with Jupiter you buy?

I don't see the rush. The players aren't going anywhere so I think I can take my time rather then making a spontaneous impulse buy. I want to make sure I'm happy with what I get and that it lasts me a long time.

I'm currently looking to get a Soniq player. Anyone on here have one? They're reasonably priced and have DivX capability, BD Lvie and some other decent stuff. I'm thinking of getting one in the next few weeks as JB Hi Fi has the QPB301B player for $146.

after a long time i finally decided to go Blu too and bought a Philips BDP3100 for about 140$

got it region free for DVD's, not for Blu Ray

DVD (a whole disc of Dragon Ball episoded) played, no issues

just now watched my 1st Blu Ray (Dirty Harry), 1 moment, lasting for about 1-2 seconds, the image started slowing down and then it went fine again

at the end of the movie the sound was distorted, again about 1-2 seconds

in both instances, i rewinded a bit and then it played fine

    is this normal?

now, i know of the layer changes with DVD's, mostly resulting in the image pausing or the sound not playing for 1 second and wonders if this is the same with BluRays? or maybe only with some cheaper players?

I ended up buying a Soniq QPB302B from JB Hi Fi the other day and so far it's great. Only set me back $125 as well.

I have seen nothing resembling this on my PS3. Playback for Blu-Ray has been seemless. And I don't think there is a layer change with BD. I'm pretty sure that they can fit a whole movie on a single layer.

That must be some made in Australia player. For $125 I hope it works longer then a few weeks. That's pretty darn cheap hope it's a good player.

Yeah, they're made just for the Aussie market. So far it has been fantastic and it has a one year warranty in case anything goes wrong. It looks good too which is a bonus.

Just bought a Samsung UBD-M7500/ZA 4K UHD Blu-Ray Player off Amazon to replace my Toshiba player which decided to start playing up and not read discs properly. I figured just buying an American player would solve my region free needs as I have my xbox for everything else.

    SONY BDP-S6500 2K/4K - 2D/3D multi region

Looking to get this. Anyone have it? Does it play BD-R 50s without freezing on the layer breaks?

Any other players can handle BD-R 50s?

    Thanks!

Congrats! Have you tried BD-R 50s on it by chance?
