Saw this tonight and thought it was everything I hoped it would be. It was very original with an appropriately downbeat and sad tone. I wouldn't be surprised if it got a best foreign language film nomination. This one had tons of heart to it.

Saw this yesterday. It's one of the most original films I've seen in quite some time. Good acting, great atmosphere, mesmerzing decorum and music. Highly recommended. Thank you Chaostar for putting this under my radar, you never disappoint :D

I started reading the book, which is said to be very good as well.

Easily the best horror movie of the year. Check it out if it's in your area!

I saw it a couple of weeks ago in Silver Spring, MD and it's fantastic. I can't say enough good things about it. It has some beautiful and memorable images. Wow. It's a dark fairy tale.

I saw this a couple of days ago and couldn't agree more. What a hauntingly beautiful film. Probably the best film I have seen this year. I can't wait to get this on DVD.

it was a very well made movie. You get a real feeling of isolation. In the first 5 minutes you know this is gonna be different than your average vampire flick.
That said, i did feel the film is possibly just a bit over-hyped. There a couple of questionable moments that keep this one from being what i would call perfect. I feel comfortable giving this one a solid 8.5 out of 10.

Nice to see this already when you search for it in Yahoo movies. Theres one listed for 2008 (this one) & one listed already for 2010:

After the Swedish original earned raves, Matt Reeves (CLOVERFIELD) directs this remake of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN. In Tomas Alfredson's 2008 film, a lonely 12-year-old finds a friend in his new neighbor, a girl who happens to be a vampire.

    Sickening.

oh GOD, can't hollywood come up with something original on their own. oh here's an idea. how bout the little vampire girl has a camcorder and likes to record everything...now that's original.

I saw this two weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Might even see it again if it is still playing here next week.

Slight spoilers ahead, but not enough to use spoiler text in my opinion. I don't think the story is as innocent as a lot of people make it out to be. I'm talking about the relationship with her and Oskar. I think she has a plan and a motive. Oskar is a total loser, and never shows any signs he'll be anything but (the hit on the ice was a lucky shot). He's gullible till the end, and she knows it. She does not befriend him because she feels sorry for him, but because she can use a wormy, spineless, invisible person. This is not the Swedish "tween love story" you hear about...this girl is 100% pure evil.

    I agree.

Altho I still see the film as a love story more thru the eyes of Oskar, Eli is definitely looking for a replacement for the older gentleman that was her slave. she cannot survive killing on her own IMO. she needs someone to do the dirty work for her.
