Leprechaun Returns in 2019 to SYFY.
    http://www.syfy.com/syfywire/leprechaun-returns-in-2019-to-syfy-watch-teaser

Looks promising, in that the series was never all that gory before so a made for TV movie isn't "missing the point" since the fun of the series is a rhyming killer Leprechaun. And with some Ash vs Evil Dead alumni that's all the more promising. It's too bad Davis won't be returning but I suspect at his age this would be a difficult role for him with even lower pay.

And if this does well enough, down the road we might even get another IV IN SPACE!!! :D

The original film was intended to be a children's film, if I'm not mistaken. They filmed some gore in post to spruce it up to an R rating. It definitely shows. I can't remember where I heard that, it might have been on the blu-ray doc.

Could be fun, especially with Ozzie returning. The latest HorrorHound magazine has a nice retrospective on the Leprechaun series, including a Horror's Hallowed Grounds covering the filming locations of the entire series!

With Jennifer Aniston on the roster, some of us would not have minded a few additional ways to spruce the film up to an R rating...

Looks fun, but boy are they promoting early, a whole year before we see it. Shit!

Thought the new leprechaun looked good.

Regarding Warwick, he's doing pretty well here in the UK, hosting prime time shows on the big channels, so there is NO way he would reprise this role now.

He participated in the docs for all the movies on the blu-ray set and he's in really good spirits about the series. I think he'd probably do it if his schedule / $$$ allowed. If he's doing a talk show now, that's probably why he couldn't do this.

Nice. I'm surprised to see it's a direct sequel to the original. Not sure how it'll be without Warwick though.

Looks fun, it's been rated here in the UK as an 18, as most of the previous series was rated 15 and the BBFC has become more relaxed in recent years I would say this should contain a fair bit of gore!

Still don't have high expectations from the the trailer but I am sure it will beat that shitty "Pumpkinhead" looking one we got last.

Watched this last night and sorry to say it's not great... It had a couple of fun kills and Linden Porco does his best Warwick impression, but sadly it's poorly written, the jokes and one-liners are mostly miss, and I really didn't like or care for any of the new characters or the direction of the story and
returning from the first film, Ozzie is killed off in the first 10 minutes although he does periodically pop up as Ghost Ozzie from time to time for a bit more screentime.
So this pot-0-gold is less than half full.

I kind of loved it. It's maybe not great in the broad spectrum of horror, but it's a wickedly fun little teen slasher and certainly a high-mark in the Leprechaun franchise.

The Halloween '18 approach was taken here, in that it follows the original movie only 25 years later. It's set at the same house from the original movie, that a group of sorority girls are now taking over (one of which is the daughter of Jennifer Aniston's character). Ozzie returns, and Aniston's character even makes a convincing voice cameo (even though I imagine there's no way in hell it's actually her). Warwick Davis is Leprechaun, but I thought the new guy did a pretty damn good job!

This movie basically takes everything that worked about the original film and does it better. The cast is fun and fairly likable (especially Pepi Sonuga, who you may remember from season two of Ash Vs Evil Dead), the kills are playful and gory, the pace is brisk and breezy, and the humor is self-aware but never condescending to the material.

I will say I probably prefer the Brian Trenchard-Smith sequels (3 & 4), but as far as Leprechaun movies go, this is a pretty damn good one!

It was ok, nothing special, some nice kills. But a one time visiting only for me.

This premieres on the SyFy Channel tomorrow night (Sunday) at 9PM.

Whoever programs this channel is expecting their audience to be hammered for St Patty's, because they scheduled the Leprechaun series in reverse chronological order. It'll be like Memento with leprechauns!

Every year I watch these movies I watch them in reverse order to get the worst ones out of the way. I do the same with the Poltergeist movies. I'm relieved to see I'm not a complete psycho by doing this.

I finally got to check this out and enjoyed just about every minute of it. Linden Porco is great as the green menace. I haven't watched the original in years but it felt in lock step with the better entries of the series. It was gorier than I was expecting which was a nice surprise. And you can tell it was also written by some Army of Darkness fans as there's a pretty extensive homage towards the end but that didn't feel derivative.

I never did watch Origins... Maybe next year. ;)
