Mix of old and new this week. I typically hit up a few pawn shops and thrift stores for a good variety. My local Most Wanted store is selling all DVDs for a buck, so many are hard to pass on. Blu-rays usually are only 2 or 3 bucks. Just a quick few that I remember getting over the past couple days...

    PAWN SHOP/THRIFT STORE BUYS
    Clash of the Titans (Blu-ray)
    Riddick Collection (Blu-ray)
    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Blu-ray)
    The Day After Tomorrow (Blu-ray)
    Ricochet (DVD)
    John Tucker Must Die (DVD)
    Lucy (DVD)
    Prey (DVD)

Sadly, I've only read and seen bad things regarding that Blu-Ray. Apparently, it's a 1080i upconvert.

Son of a bitch. I figured I'd be safe since it was released by Studio Canal. I'll get it on Tuesday and post my thoughts. Thanks zbinks.

Same here. It's one of my favorite movies of all time and I've been waiting forever for a good blu release. What I've read basically says that release has a horrible transfer. One person even said that the HBO DVD was clearer, if memory serves.

The Sunrise that replaced the HMV in Bramalea City Centre opened yesterday! I can't believe haw quick that turnaround was! I expected it to be like the Zellers/Target transition and take half a year. Their stock was a little low. It looked like they'd only received shipments from a few distributors. There were predominantly Warner Bros. titles, from what I could see. Prices were decent, though. I was determined to make a purchase to support their presence. Losing HMV was a real blow, so I want to do my best to make sure Sunrise makes a go of it. I picked up

    2 for $20
    Rebel Without a Cause (digibook)
    Purple Rain (2016 remaster)

    and
    Singin in the Rain ($7.99)

If it's that bad, it's going back. If it is indeed good, I'll post screens.

The 3D on It Came from Outer Space is stellar. It's a terrific blu-ray of a rather goofy film.

It certainly appears to be an upconvert. I wouldn't recommend anyone pay $30 as I did. Oh well.
