Great news! I'm still holding onto my old MGM DVD, waiting for just the right blu for an upgarde--I'm sure Arrow will do right by it.
I may upgrade if its really worth it, I have the MGM dvd and blu from a few years ago or it may be even longer lol.
I'm holding on to my mgm bluray and remake as well. I thought maybe this film would of been a future announcement from Scream Factory along with the 2009 remake.
I ended up ordering this but to be honest I’m not fully certain why I did. I respect the film but don’t find much enjoyment in watching it.
^^ Better to order these limited edition sets before they go OOP, you can always sell it later if you decide against keeping it. I was happy enough with the unrated BD I had but got this one today to see if it's any better. Worth it for that scene where Krug casually bursts the kids balloon with his cigarette... a moment of pure cinematic genius!
Since it's Arrow, you know it's going to be one hell of an upgrade and easily the definitive release of the movie. Easy upgrade for me. I'm ecstatic they ended up with Heathers. That will probably be the release of the year for me.
Same here. I think it's a masterpiece and a true accomplishment, especially keeping it mind the year it was released......but it's not exactly dripping with rewatch value.
Found the remake for $3 today my store also had the new arrow release but they won't break street date so I'll wait.
I'm familiar with the Unrated & R-rated cuts of the movie, but what is the difference between the Krug & Company cut included? I get so confused when there's 20 different cuts of the same movie and never know which one to watch.
The "Krug & Company" cut is the British cut, which differs slightly from the American R-rated and of course Uncut versions. Here's the differences compared to the Uncut version: https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=2307
I pre-ordered from Arrow when this was announced, then forgot I'd done that and pre-ordered from Amazon a few weeks back. So if anyone in the UK would like a sealed copy for less than retail (say £18 shipped?) let me know.
Ended up watching disc 1, the Unrated version, plus all the extras on that disc. Took two nights to get through it all, and there's even more extras on the second disc. There's a Deleted Scene on Disc 1 called "Mari Dying At The Lake" that comes from the Krug & Co cut, but the interesting thing is that Mari is still alive in it. Putting it in the movie would spin it in a similar direction to the remake. The scene is on the previous blu-ray as well. That would seem to be one of the major differences between the two cuts. I'm exhausted on Last House for a while. I'll probably check out the Krug & Co cut next viewing, along with the extras from Disc 2. That probably won't be for at least a year. I do want to revisit the remake soon though.
Amazon.ca has this for only $11.33 CAD. I bought it a few weeks ago when it was $16, and I thought that was a steal. Now I'm kicking myself for not waiting. This must be some pricing mistake. Amazon.com is asking $31 USD.
Thank you! Sold for $16.81 including shipping and handling to the U.S.! It would have been $33.38 to buy it from Amazon in the States.
Lucky you, great price, I just looked for UK delivery , they wanted 10 pound for postage and packing, amazon.com usually only charges around 5 pound, with such high p and p it's not really worth it.
Damn. That's a lot. I order from amazon.co.uk all the time, and even with the import fees deposit, it's still only around £4 extra. I can't believe it's so much more expensive going the other direction!
