Looks way better than the Peter Jackson remake :)

    Can't wait for this:
"followed by Godzilla 2 on March 22, 2019, and Godzilla vs. Kong on May 29, 2020."

    SWEET!!

I liked Jackson's version well enough, but Kong in that film certainly wasn't on the scale of what this appears to be.

I liked the parts when they are on the island, but the New York scenes, and especially during the climax, was a huge letdown.
The 1933 movie is basically nonstop action, when Kong breaks free, but in Jackson's version, there was just too much unneeded fluff, like the skating on ice scene, etc.
And it takes forever, for the planes to turn around for another attack.
Also, Kong was much more brutal in the original, and parts of it, felt more like a horror movie.
But the biggest problem, is the running time. If they had kept the movie at 110 minutes, it could have improved the pacing.

    Otherwise, it an okey movie.

Do they offer the 202 minute version on home video over there? It's literally unwatchable.

Yes, it was a very long film. I loved the part on the island better than the city too. Actually, the scene I liked (and creeps me out to this day) has nothing to do with Kong. It the part when they are in the gorge and are attached by all of the different insects. When the huge worm like creature swallowed that one guy whole, I totally freaked and all of the friends with me in the theater laughed their asses off at me. YUCK! I hate bugs.

The long version does contain some cool scenes on the island that are not in the theatrical - so for anyone that enjoys the island portion it is worth checking out.

I am excited to see Kong: Skull Island

They do, some of the extra scenes, like with the giant fish are nice, but the rest is too much filler, my taste.

I have a love/hate feel for Jackson's Kong. I agree that the film is EXTREMELY bloated and could have used some much better pacing. If I had to pick apart specifics, I think Jack Black was a total miscast and that alone nearly pulled me out of the movie. I also hated the stampede scene, horrible CGI there and quite cartoonish in nature how any of them survived that. I thought the Hayes-Jimmy mentor relationship felt forced and flat and really went nowhere. There were some great stuff though like the spider pit and Kong's fight with the T-rex(s). I do enjoy the 1976 Kong more though as I grew up with that one.

Back on the subject, I'm excited by this upcoming Kong and I like the more serious tone this trailer makes it appear to be. I'm going to keep my feelings in check though until it is released as I don't want to expect too much out of it like I did for Kong (05) or Pacific Rim.

I know exactly what you mean. I was so hyped for Pacific Rim and was kinda let down after seeing it. It was okay, but not what I expected. The film is just too damn dark. Too many night scenes.

I also hated Peter Jackson's King Kong. I turned it off after they capture him as I couldn't stand anymore. Way too bloated a film and some of the effects were pretty terrible such as the stampede.

Skull Island looks way better so I hope it doesn't suck. Kong looks ginormous Bow too which is cool. Hopefully he doesn't look just like a normal gorilla.

Kong looks great. Hell this entire film looks great.

But I really don't understand the hate for Jackson's 2005 remake. There's no doubt that the movie is WAY too long but once the movie gets to skull island it's a fun ride. Kong looked great, most of the CGI was good (definitely some iffy work tho) and the finale is fantastic. Don't really understand the hate for it here and it's a FAR better remake than the 1976 one (i like that one tho)

But hey hate on it all you wish I still dig it and always will.
