Oh Hell YES!!! Would love to see a reboot of Kong vs. Godzilla. The original was always one of my favorite Toho films, even if it is a bit campy.
The drop kick was hysterically funny!! The Kong suit was bad, especially the eyes, but when your seven, it's the greatest thing in the world!!!!
Was it the same Kong suit they used for King Kong Escapes? That was awful. Even though I love many of the Godzilla films, this one always fell a little flat for me. Hopefully a remake can bring a great idea to complete fruition using modern technology.
Actually, I think they changed the suit a bit for King Kong Escapes. I think he looked more apelike in Escapes, but it wasn't much of an improvement. Godzilla changed so many times over the years and not always for the better, IMO. Rodan is the best example. The original Rodan design in 1957 was still the best. After that, they kinda made Rodan look less birdlike with big google eyes. I think that's pretty much what they did with Kong as well. The first Toho Kong looked meaner. I can't wait to see how they redo Kong, and even Rodan and King Ghidorah with the new films.
Different suits. The KKE suit is more cartoonish, but still comes off better than the KKvG suit, which looks cheap and worn. The movie was supposed to tie in with their animated series. Some of the names are the same. Classic Media released some episodes on DVD, but I don't think they ever got to the ones with Dr. Who.
Speaking of Kong vs. Godzilla, I tried to watch the blu ray of this title last night. This is the new Universal blu and my copy is defective. The film keeps pausing and dropping out. Has anybody else had this issue? Does anybody know if there was an issue with the blu ray? I bought King Kong Escapes on blu at the same time but haven't watched it yet so I don't know if there were any issues with these discs.
I watched KKvG last year, around the time of the new film. I just watched KKE last month. No problems with either Blu-ray for me.
Are they gonna cut away from all the action in this one too? ha! That film from last year was a JOKE!
I hope they put out a movie tie in novelisation so I can read it before I buy it on dvd. That way I can read it in the old style with everybody in rubber suits, dubbing, green screens, Nick Adams in the Sarsgaard role and mini models getting crushed before seeing the CGI version too!
It still cannot be worst than Puff Daddy ft Jimmy Page "Come With Me" Anyways, I expect it to be like "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" Great special effects, battles/destruction but dumb AF characters, I bet you the little girl will save the day at the end.
