I like the look of it, camera work was nice. Nice trailer anyway.

Trailer started off rather generic, but by the end I had a mild grin just seeing JC's name again. I'll go in with low expectations and hope they are exceeded.

In dedication to Rhett & Killercannabis Legends, the uncut review. The film I saw Sunday night and overall I think its a respectable effort. It does not give us something groundbreaking, the key is the carpenter execution. Did he provide the moments of what we expect? I think so as I enjoyed the ride, soundtrack quite fitting to the story, the main fermale lead holds the screen well, I do wanna route for her.

The film was made on a 5 mill budget, its a good move, Carpenter makes a steady & safe return to the industry, this will turn a profit.and ensure his magic can return again. The in the mouth of madness darkness and organic pigs blood with a slice of apple vibe still provokes its aroma over his fans.

I feel like in a exclusive UK horror VIP section of the forum. Feel quite honored to be one of the first to see this film on the forum. I hope you US forumers get to see it.

Don't worry US fans, it will, at the very least, get a direct to video release.

Thanks, that fits in with a pre-screening review I read. Not groundbreaking, a little predictable but pretty good overall.

Ok, finally saw John Carpenter's "The Ward" tonight. His best work? It doesn't even come close, hell at times it didn't even seem like a John Carpenter movie. When he doesn't score his own work, boy can you tell. Having said that, it's not his worst effort but it is a cliched and predictable thriller that might have you keeping track of the time. If you have been waiting for Carpenter's big comeback, you're gonna have to wait a bit longer.

    and SPOILER!!!!!!! (kinda)

the ending? Total rip-off from "I Know What You Did Last Summer." Ouch.

It's getting mixed reviews. Some love it and others hate it, I'll see it regardless.

CRAP! Why have he given up on this?
A Carpenter movie without his own score is just half a movie :(

Except for The Thing, but Morricone sure made the score in true Carpenter style, plus a lot of the score must have been written by John. ;)

I really enjoyed it (way more than "Ghosts of Mars). I found the main character pretty good, I even liked her in "Drive Angry" :)

Looking forward to getting it on DVD/BR.

Sad that we won't get this in theaters...seeing JC in the cinema is practically the religious experience his initials suggest. Happy to see it when it finally does hit, though.

Saw it two nights ago, and I didn´t really like it at all. :(
There was nothing that really felt like a Carpenter movie about it.
And I didn´t really like any of the characters.
Plus the scares was typical of modern hollywood horror movies = lame!
Sure there where a few moments that was okey, but overall a mediocre movie...

I wasn´t all that fond of "Ghosts of Mars" when it came out. But when I saw it again a few weeks ago, I actually liked it. And at least that has the trademark Carpenter vibe that I love and is sadly missing in The Ward...

A part of me wishes that "Cigarette Burns" was his last film.

I really hope he writes the script and makes his own soundtrack for the next movie, because if THIS is the future of Carpenters movies, then I´m not interested anymore.

I guess a double feture of "The Thing" & "The Fog" tonight will get me in a better mood again ;)

The Ward gets 2 out of 5 skulls from me.

This is supposed to be available today on VOD, but I don't see it in the listings ( I have Direct TV) nor on amazon or anywhere for that matter.
