Universal Studios in Orlando has closed the ride on 1/02/2012 to make room for a new Harry Potter ride. Sad thing is that I never saw it. Just watched theses videos of the ride now. Pretty amazing that those tour guys/gals do that routine over & over & over again. Here's a couple of videos of the ride: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBSaUp2GLJ8 Tribute to JAWS the ride attraction. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=T_t3Q6ahmyU#!
:lol::lol: How fucked up is it I was thinking just about the same thing when I read the first post? It's not just Jaws or the ride that is dead, romance has left the park also! It's also one more reason for me to say "FUCK HARRY POTTER!", not that I really need another reason.
Hey, Harry Potter is awesome. Go away. :fire: But how sad. The Jaws ride seemed so fun. Now I'll never get to see it.
The funny thing is the news down here said it was still one of the top 3 rides at the park in terms of number of people who are on it each year.
Wow this sucks. I've rode the ride multiple times in the last three years. I've taken my family to Orlando the last three years in October for Halloween Horror Nights. It's one of our favorites. This past October was the best we rode it at night in the rain. It was a really fun ride.
Damn this sucks. Haven't been to Universal Studios since I was a child, where this ride made me cry like a little girl I might add. Was planning on saving up and heading there this year or next, mainly for this ride. Now I don't know if there is much point. A lot of the rides I remember loving are now gone. King Kong was also awesome, but the new version doesn't look as good at all. It's pretty much just a 3D movie isn't it? That doesn't compare to actually seeing the mechanical monkey destroy the city in front of you. It's kind of like the absence of real effects in movies these days, replaced with CGI.
Several years back I went to Universal in Hollywood and they had a tour/ride of some of their lots and houses from famous movies etc- but part of it did include a Jaws portion where it came out of the water at you - remember that being one of my favorite moments at the park <: I wonder if that portion is being removed/already removed from Universal Hollywood
A shame, time marches on,tastes change I guess.I'm sure one day they'll scrap the HARRY POTTER ride for something else (nothing against HARRY POTTER),things change.
God I remember being on that ride a few years back. Had a terrible sunburn from going to the beach the day before. And for anyone who's ridden the ride, you know how alot of shit busts inti flames, that shit made me feel like my skin was melting! But yeah, sad to see such a fun memory go....
I went on holiday to Orlando four times, last time was in 2000. I thought the jaws ride was excellent, went on it at least a couple of times, and yeah i remember the flames burning too, had to lean away from them! great ride, sad news indeed.
Last time I was there was 1999, and I went on the Jaws ride, I found it to be fun and amusing. My favorite thing though was T2 3D, if your a fan of terminator, then that 20 min plus live action event, and James Cameron in my opinion did his best 3D work on that short film, and the cinema they got to show it kicked ass, Arnold and the gang coming back, it felt like a continution of Terminator 2. If anyone hasn't seen it, it's one of the the best reasons to go, especially since the film hasn't come out on blue ray.
Was very sad to see this close. It was such a fun ride. Especially at dark. Universal Studios is becoming a place I no longer recognize.
Too bad. Have a fond, although vague, childhood memory of taking the Universal tour while on a family vacation Christmas of '83. My god, has it been that long! That was before Back to the Future was even made, and Jaws 3-D was brand new, yikes!
I was there in the early 90's, Jaws and King Kong were our only reasons for visiting Universal Orlando. Sad..
