This one really pisses me off. The original is perfect (in my top ten all time favorite films), from the casting, the acting, the effects, the score, the scares, everything. It takes forever for the blu-ray to come out which of course is a minor upgrade from the DVD. I'm not expecting a Casablanca type remaster, but for God's sakes, if the studio couldn't give two shits about the blu-ray, why are they bothering to remake it?

This is one of the worst titles imaginable to remake at this point. The "he's been dead the whole time" bit has been done to death since this film came out. It was novel back then, and added to the film. Now it's just a hack tactic intended to shock.

Yeah, this is one that I really can't get behind. The majority of the power of the original is tied completely to the way it was directed, the practical effects, and the rawness of the imagery. Any attempt to remake or rework will simply be losing all the elements that made the first one work.

    This.

I doubt I'll even waste my 90+ minutes.

That trailer was a good warning for me not to spend any time on it ever.

I don't even remember the original well at all. All I remember is that at the time I didn't think much of it. That was at least 10 years ago. I'm curious to see it again.

This new film looks pretty average. That combined with how long it was shelved doesn't bode well for it.

I only saw the original once but I remember it was a shocking movie. It's the sort of movie that really doesn't need a remake. But I guess this is the modern remake with the current war substituted. The remake's trailer doesn't seem to have that gritty and surreal feel of the original movie.

That's pretty disappointing, I can't imagine it can stand up to the original. You can see some imagery in the trailer that pays homage and I imagine the ending will be changed up a bit but, no thanks.
